J A ' gf W i Changing Roles Gpen New Areas Cf Interest Roles and traditions slowly dissolved as students discovered more areas open to their services and creativity. Girls and boys eased away from former standards without limiting themselves to new ones. Girls recognized their own abilities in industrial arts while boys learned the joys of cooking. Registering to vote, eighteen-year-olds obtained an adult responsibility. Looking toward the future, young people found fresh approaches to their pursuits. As they viewed unprecedented horizons, students were stimulated by the winds of change.

Concern and co-operation increased as youths extended their interests by involvement with their community and the problems of society. Many tutored after school in Trenton, in addition to organizing Ecology projects and a bundle drive. Assembling in novel ways, such as class picnics and outdoor class meetings during lunch, Centralites exchanged ideas and attempted to answer questions. All felt the inclusive efforts of young people and adults working toward mutual understanding.
