A group of 44 strangers gathered that day to begin a school life which was to end only after 12 years of schooling. One of our first ventures in school activities took place in the fifth and sixth grades. At this time many members of our class entered the l-l.L. Band. Our first year in Jr. High, Judy Frankart and Sara Kelbley became our Jr. High cheerleaders. Judy and Carmen Vera were chosen the second year when we were eighth graders. In September '54 we entered the Freshman Class. At this time we chose our class colors Blue and White: our class flower, the AmericanBeauty Roseg and our motto, Today Decides Tomorrow. We chose the following class officers at this time: President, John Kelbleyg Vice-President, Bob Walter: Secretary- Norbert Collet: Treasurer, Nancy Dundore. The highlight of our Freshman year was our Freshman- Sophomore Prom. This was a new event for us. Then too, many members of our class were in extra curricular activities such as Mixed Chorus, F.H.A. and F .F.A., Dramatic Club and Sports. In '55 the class officers were chosen as follows: President, John Kelbleyg Vice-President, Nancy Dundore: Secretary, Marjorie Nickelg Treasurer, Judy Frankart. Our big event was the Freshman- Sophomore Prom. Our Junior year brought new experiences for us in school life. We published the Scarlet Banner throughout the year. Our class took part in the high school operetta, I-l.M.S. Pinafore. We presented our Junior Class Play, Night of January 16th, which was a great success, and our biggest event of the year was our formal J unior-Senior Banquet and Prom. We elected for our class officers in '55 - '56 as follows: President, John Kelbleyg Vice-President, Nancy Dundoreg Secretary, Judy Walter, Treasurer, Judy Frankart. Now as Seniors, we can be proud of what we put forth to make Hopewell-Loudon such a great school. This year we presented our Senior Class Play, Our Hearts were Young and Gay. We are very proud of our class members who have earned the right of becoming members of National Honor Society and about half of our class has earned this right. We wish to express to the Juniors our appreciation for the fine Prom they gave us this year. Our most exciting experience during this year was our class trip to Wash- ington and New York. We, the Seniors of '58, have our teachers to thank for the knowledge we have gained. Now we can open our minds to plans for the future. We hope this knowledge will make us better citizens for our coming years.
