we Vw' Foreword I I Dear Mom and Dad, Tomorrow is commencement--the big day we have been so anxiously looking forward to during the past year, My Graduation! I am about to step over the threshold into a new realm of responsibility, leaving childhood days behind and entering an adult world. Up until now, I depended on your wise guidance and counsel, but now I shall have to rely upon my own resources . Sometimes I get the urge to pat myself on the back for the things I have ac- complished, but you deserve a healthy share of the credit. The respect for dis- cipline and the appreciation for learning that you instilled in me as a child have helped to carry me on through my high school years . It is hard for me to express my gratitude for your moral support, prayers, and everlasting faith. Perhaps I can, if I dedicate to you, this my yearbook, the 1959 Viking.

Pohl, Mark Hilliker, Joseph Bontempo, Larry Blaney Board of Directors The Hopewell-Independence-Raccoon Joint School Board is composed of a jointure of the school boards of Hopewell, Independence, and Raccoon Townships. The Board consists of seventeen members , seven from Hopewell and five each from Independence and Raccoon. Officers of the Joint Board are as follows ,-President , Mark Hillikerg Vice President, Joseph Bontempog Secretary, Lawrence Blaneyg Treasurer, Mrs. Ann McConnellg and Solicitor, Myron Rowley. The work of the Board is carried out for the most part through the aid and recommendations of the following com- mittees: Athletics chairman, Leonard Manningg Building and Grounds chairman, Joseph Bontempog Education and Personnel chairman, Mrs. Ann McConnellg Transportation chairman, William Garbinskyg Finance and Purchasing Chairman, William Pohl. There is also one committee governing Rules and Regulations and Procedure for the Joint Board. Each committee is composed of seven members selected so that all the townships are represented. The major problem facing the board this year is the laying of the ground work for a new building program con- sisting of more elementary classrooms and a new Junior High School.
