The bridge of knowledge we have acquired here at Hopewell High School has prepared us to cross many obstacles we will face in life. We are the aichitects of our future, working in these walls of time. Our todays and yesterdays are the blocks with which we build our bridge of life. If we build strongly today with a firm and ample base, we will realize that tomorrow will find its place. As the name KALEIDOSCOPE signifies, our academic life can be view¬ ed in many different aspects, each one equally memorable in years to come. May each one of you seek his own special meaning a n d memories in these pages even as we have found joy and a sense of fulfillment in our work as Your Editors, Brenda Butler Brenda Morene Above, we see the entrance to our new school, which has long been awaited. At bottom left is the modern library, which is located in the center court-yard of the school. At bottom right is the entrance to the auditorium with a curvature of the front wall. This was a hot time in old Hopewell this night. At the an¬ nual Petersburg pep rally a Petersburg dummy was hung in effigy on the football field. This age old tradition built a tremen¬ dous amount of pep and spirit for the annual clash with Petersburg. ■ t f yi?% jO ■ ■ |p. | $ ?: sSsp®:. astajdSBBI am 8 «P« casMfc 1 nte Mi . -t ' - ' - ■ ■ ■ g ls p B f KI3SS ' : | ' 5 .’ ' i l r ' ; ‘ ' v$i Suh .k-vsy S V„‘£ ' •••• : ' mmm : W ■. iiitifMSSi Devils — Past, Present, The winning float of the Homecoming Festivities was entered by the Senior Class of 1967. This honor was well deserved because of the hard work, effort, and time that was rendered in order to construct this beautiful float. The Homecoming dance was a complete success with the “New Generations”. The decorations followed the Homecoming theme which was continued throughout the weekend. 10 Future Because of the inge¬ nuity of the Junior Class, their float was chosen as first runner-up in the float contest. The float depicted the “Mighty Blue” vic¬ torious over all. Placing third was a real triumph for the Pep Club since this was a recently es¬ tablished organiza¬ tion. This float car¬ ried the theme of Homecoming, “Dev¬ ils — Past, Present, Future.” Our school buildings and classrooms are very valuable to those who yearn to further their education and to those who want to advance in their chosen occupational fields. 12 With a lot of pep and of our school sports. vitality the students of H. And what have we learned during our twelve years of school? Have we learned a good trade and how to use a successful tool? Do we remember the teachers who helped us through The problems we didn’t knoiv how to do? And so, before our path we see A structure that is known to you and me, A bridge for crossing (yes, one more) For we have crossed many bridges before. We, the class of ’67, Have left a path that is well-trod But there’s one thing other classes didn’t do: Bridge the gap from the old school to the new. And so, the last graduating class of this Hopewell High Will lift their heads and say good-bye For all the things it held in store. We’ve come across a bridge once more. After much hard work and many trying ex¬ periences, we, the Kaleidoscope Staff, present this yearbook to the student body of Hopewell High School with pleasure and satisfaction. We are very proud of our finished product and we know that you will be, too. The honor of being on the Kaleidoscope Staff was enjoyed by 20 seniors and 11 juniors. Working together with the help of our sponsor, Mr. Utleye, we all met our deadlines and our efforts were re¬ warded at the Kaleidoscope Assembly when our yearbook was officially presented to you. The 1966-67 Kaleidoscope Staff bids you farewell, but we leave our cherished memories recorded in our ever-changing Kaleidoscope. Utleye whom we all admire and respect. In his ten years of being the staff’s spon¬ sor, he has not only worked un¬ selfishly at his required tasks, but has gone far beyond the call of duty. The scope of this man’s job has increased each year. Yet, his man¬ ner has remained friendly and helpful. From your sense of devotion we see how proud and fond you are of Hopewell High School and the peo¬ ple within its walls. Now we have a chance to show you how ap¬ preciative we are of you. With many thanks for your interest in us, the Kaleidoscope staff pays you this tribute. 250 i ” ' 9 Jr .
