School SHonors GIRLS’ STATE Miss Janas Hendricks and Miss Susan Patterson were selected to attend Girls’ State at Radford College by the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion, Post 80, after being nominated by the Class of ’66. GRADUATION MARSHALS Sue Webb and John Letchworth were chosen by the Hope- well Chapter of the National Honor Society to serve as Graduation Marshals for the final gathering of the Class of 1965. BOYS’ STATE Butch Altman and Chuck Frederickson, after being nomin¬ ated by the Class of ’66, were chosen to attend the American Legion Boys’ State held at the College of William and Mary for a week this past summer. DISTRICT PRESIDENT Eddie Smiley was elected by his classmates last spring as a District VI Board Member. At the convention, he was nominated and elected as the District President.

Community OhConors BOY OF THE YEAR Bobby Poole Bobby Poole was chosen the Optimist Club’s Outstanding Boy of the Year because of his fine character, scholarship, leadership, delightful per¬ sonality, and his readiness to serve his friends, church, and school . Because of his activity in numer¬ ous organizations in both school and church and his contributions to them through his leadership, sports¬ manship, and service, Bobby is very deserving of this honor. GIRL OF THE YEAR Barbara Banvard The Optimist Club of Hopewell chose Barbara as the Outstanding Girl of the Year. Barbara earned this highly coveted honor by the service she has so readily given to the school, to her church, and the numerous activities which she takes part in. Her excellent character, delightful personality, scholar¬ ship, leadership, and active participation have earned this very worthy honor for her. 23
