With all returning lettermen except one the Blue Devil basketball team is living up to every expectation hoped for by the student body. Our Student Co-operotive Association has m any fea¬ tures that compare with our state and federal govern¬ ments. Our exchange student from Brazil listens closely as our officers explain their duties. Fall and winter passed, and as spring came the Hope- well track team was competing with other members of the Central District in the various events taking place. As the month of February approached us, the tired co¬ editors of the 1963 Kaleidoscope completed the final pages and patiently awaited for the date when this work would become a reality. One of the best times of the year Christmas brought forth remembrances of what we have to be thankful for and with the contributions from each homeroon someone ' s Christmas was made a little more cheerful. The annual Christmas Program presented to the Parent Teachers Student Association by our band and choir is always looked forward to by our parents as well as the student body.

The first day of school brought new hopes for many, the departing of the class of 63 and the beginning for the class of “68 . The first football game of the 62“ season was long awaited by the football team as well as their classmates. Ten was the magic number for the boys and girls tapped for the National Honor Society. Just as the first football game had been long awaited, the bonfire representing the Petersburg game symbol¬ ized our hopes fo stomping the Crimson Wave again this year. Rings were the subject talked about by all the Seniors as they received a tradition that has been passed down for many years. 22 The fifth annual Rhythm and Blues show sponsored by the D.O. Club was considered a great success by those who attended the annual affair.

Spring not only brought track, but the all time Ameri¬ can sport, Baseball, and the Blue Devil baseball team was well under way to winning the scheduled games. These four Seniors experienced a memorable time when then attended Boys and Girls State sponsored by the American Legion Post. The annual Junior Senior Prom carried out the theme Aloha saying farewell to the Seniors of 62 and introducing to the Seniors of 63 the experiences long looked forward to. Examinations, a very serious part of school life repre¬ sent a review of the knowledge we have gained in the past semesters. A new honor was bestowed for the first time on two Junior girls as they served as Graduation Marshals for the final meeting of the class of 62 . 24 This place where the student body has sat for five years is now empty, in its own quiet way it speaks a farewell for another school year.
