The next few pages of this annual devoted to the activities and organiza¬ tions now carried on by our classmen. In place of the Student Council we have our National Government with Cecil “Honest John” Jackson, who just defeated Wayne Sprouse as candidate for president. Also, in the governmental depart¬ ment is Jimmie “You tell ’em Sheets who has been handed his walking papeis from the Senate for filibustering. As for dramatics, Lillian Moore and Naomi Weston are competing to see who can get the most oscars, er...we mean “Irvins”. The name was changed in tribute to Irvin Grant, the Cornel Wilde of the day. The newspaper “What’s Tlv’ News?” is edited by Sue Lawrence who has a staff of very able reporters. Among them are: Jane Tippett, world famous gossip columnist; Rebecca Cox, who writes the column, “Petersburg Day by Day ; Edna Hudson “Fashions For Short People” ; Doris Anne Renn, “Modern Speech” ; Betty “Bly” Gates who writes advice to the “Lovelorn ; Virginia Burke, author of the book on “How to Get Rid of Freckles;’ and Lilly Nosal who Nos al about it”. Now playing at Cibula Lodge are the “Colona Cavaliers” composed of Gene “Krupa” Lowe who drums up the business; Wilbert “King of Swing” Minor; Harry “Licorice Stick” Collier; Billy “Play ’em all’ Wilkerson; and the Bud¬ ding” young vocalist, Louise. This orchestra is managed by Ellis Abrams. The comedians of the show are Jerry “Abbott” Tew and Madeline “Costello Synan, co-staring with Bob “Hopeless” Hainstock. Also on the program is the talented dancer, Barbara Sear, who dances to the music of Merle Hurlburt’s accordion Nancy Craven, Alice Crawford, and Lillian Slagle are featured as the “Three Musketeers on Skates.” The next division, professional sports, stars in football department, Eddie

PHOPHECY Have you ever thought how nice it would be to have an out-of-school edition of the Kaleidoscope to see just what has become of our wonderful ’49 graduates? Ray Storm’s “Fair Weather Printing Company,” edited by James 1 homas, had this idea and so we have this, the revised edition of the Kaleidoscope of ’49. hirst, as we turn to administration and faculty, our eyes come to rest on Colonel Thomas Boyette, superintendent of schools; Bill McClements, assistant- superintendent; Berkley Howell, principal; with Ned Martin and Miss Elsie Sabol as assistants. Turning the page we notice the physical education directors: Wesley Ned- l°ck, crew cut, bow tie, and all, and Nancy “Slay ’em with work” Hardy. Look, the new English teacher, Barbara Armstrong, is wearing on her collar a navy pin which we are sure belongs to Admiral Phil Janosik, commander of the good ship—“Sad Sack.” Thelma Childers now teaches psychology. We hear she psychoanalizes all the new teachers in her spare time. Marlene “You rip ’em, we sew ’em” Caudle, and Joyce “eat it and die” Connelly assisted by Joyce “scrub the” Hall are pictured as home economics teachers. Hayford and Schaaf have now taken over Mr. Grainger’s job. Schaaf does the “mad scientist” experiments and Hayford has mastered the art of corny jokes. Loveable Jean Wooten now teaches geometry with all its curves and angles. Little Nancy Scott is the art teacher, and last but not least, Billie Lee Scott is now the school nurse. In the senior division we see John “Rockefellow” Kreynus, senior vice- president of the “Taedter Chips” company owned by Jimmie Morris. Bill Bailey, a former leading football star, is now senior coach of Ledford Tech. Then, we couldn’t leave out Kenny Warren who has made news by holding the senior title for sleeping (or should we say hibernating) longer than anyone else. Faithful Pietei Van Benthuysen missed his old desk so much that he moved

PROPHECY “Humphrey” Dean, former captain of I. O. University’s I. O. U. team, ably assisted by Sonny Pentecost in the backfield. In basketball we find “Floogie” Moore and Bob “Basket-bound” Askew. In baseball, we have the pitcher, Donald “Strike ’em out” Woodlief with James “Butterfingers” Rusmisell as one of his team mates. d he girls’ basketball team with Mary Sue Balint, Dot Wells, Shirley Hall, and Louise Daniel takes great pride in its “unbroken record”. (They’ve been defeated 28 times out of 28 starts.) At last, the division everyone looks forward to, the “Snaps”. Here we see Billie Beauchamp with her cosy little family of ten (Aunts and Uncles we mean.) Millicent Moore is pictured showing off her engagement ring. In the next picture we see with two sailors—yes, you guessed it—Jane Hudson. Jack “Pretty Boy” Fischer and Pete “Look at ’em swoon” Wells are now Hollywood’s favorites. Pictured modeling thte latest bathing suit is Dottie “Yum-Yum” Harlow. Ann Ross and Georgia Zikes are shown in front of their hotel the “Hut-Sut Ross’ House.” Last we see pictured a television station owned and operated by Beverley Booz who has as her secretary, Lois Bishop. Lucille Lewis, Adelaide Arvin, Phyllis Taylor, and Charlotte Treaster also are secretaries here since Bev writes prophecies in her spare time.
