7 In early September, students came from Unionport, East Cadiz, Hopedale, Parlett, and even one from Powhatan Point, matriculated in Hopedale High School as freshmen. Some were athirst for knowledge, pthers for acquaintances, and some few sauntered along tardily because they were yet under age. All, however, soon became an integral part of the school, and work was handed out. Mrs. Cox, Mr. Flowers, and Mrs. Redman were the advisors. The freshmen class of 1948 was initiated on September 26, 1947. That evening the Freshmen Dance was held. Marianne Belenin was crowned Queen and Walter Dunn, King of the class. The class officers are: President-George Oklok V. Pres.-Claire Costantini Seclt.-Treas.HJohn Donley The activities of the freshmen have been limited, but they have three more years in which to develop and learn. The group has shown a great amount of talent and surely autumn of '48 will find twenty-nine sophomores in Hopedale's enrollment. At the beginning of the year, there were thirty-one pupils in the class.
