Roland H. Vanderbilt Principal Americans have always been able to rise to meet any challenge that has confronted our grea’ country. Most of these challenges have been by foreign nations. To- day the communists and leftists are trying to weaken us from within. The first step that they use is to point out to ojr citizens that their rights have been transgress- ed upon. Thus many people go to extremes just to defy authority. We should all work to preserve this great nation. Students! Think! Are you letting this happen to you? Don't sell our enemies short. They are smart and are trying every way they can to break down our princi- ples of democracy which our ancestors have given to us. You will need all of the education that you can get in order to preserve our democracy. Donald P. Little Superintendent 7

Leslie L. Worrell, President Unified School Board The birthright of every individual has its roots in the moral foundation of the nation. These foundations are an agreement of values which guide us in managing our lives and our social activities. When these values are understood and believed by each of us, we then have established a common bond with the people who are strug- gling for freedom and human dignity. The education each of you students receive, while training your minds and developing your skills, will be helpful in selecting the values that guide your lives in protecting the birthright of every American. Congratulations and best wishes. May each of you achieve the goals of your chosen field. Leslie L. Worrell Dale F. Scott Charmaine Oesterrelch Members of the communities who serve on the school board do so with no tangible reward and very little thanks. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them, and the taxpayers of the Rural Vista Unified District, for quality education. Dale Gantenbein Milton Jacobson Jerry A. Wendt Dr. Henry Holloway 6
