SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY The year is 1970. The place is New York City. Gail Riffel is found in his 78th story penthouse viewing his high school class picture. Why not look up his old classmates and renew acquaintances? After settling a few business affairs of his Space Travel Service and paying his monthly alimony to the for- mer Mrs. Riffel. Miss Carol Schaaf, Gail picked up his present wife, the former Marilyn Schimming, and drives to the rocket port. With a whosh, they are off in their private rocket called The Lions Roar”. Their first stop is in Hope where they refueled at Calvin Davis' filling station. When they were there, who should drive in but Keith Kandt, the local Romeo who is still playing the field. Because of the long ride from New York, Gail and Marilyn decided logo to the drug store for a coke. Were they surprised to see Clayton Brouhardas the soda jerk. Patty Harrison, the proprietor was in the back room. Keith was kind enough to drive them out to the Domann-Anderson Angus Ranch. The neighbors were all angry because the Angus were so long legged that they walked over all the fences! While they were there Lloyd Burchard drove in with another load of long legged angus from Texas. The foreman of the ranch is Robert Ihde who is now married to Mary Ann Guthals. They have a son who is a star basketball player. He is Robert Ihde. Jr. and he is 6' 10 tall. Several members of the 1955 graduating class went to visit Hope High School last week and discovered Bill Baucom and Max Pool still participating in school activities. Sunday they went to Rosebank Church where they heard Rev. Arnold Plank. He was married to Janice Schimming, and they have 13 children. The next morning Gail and Marilyn left by train for Las Vegas. They had learned that Yvonne Gentz and Leona Warns were operating a resort and gambling casino there. When they went to get their tickets they were very surprised to find Royce Lindsay behind the ticket window. After a brief visit, they learned that Mrs. Lindsay was a former classmate, Myrna Brockmeier. When they got to Las Vegas, they went to Yvonne and Leona’s resort for a short visit. While there, they met John Mark Rhodes who was renting the $1000 a day suite. He told them that he had just struck it rich in his uranium prospecting in the Nevada desert. While visiting with him, the lovely serving maid. Iris Martin, brought in his James and James' Alcoholic Cough Drops. He explained that they were manufactured by the company owned by James Rutz and James Schimming. They were guaranteed to change your cough to hic- ups. While in Nevada, Gail and Marilyn stopped by the atomic testing grounds. They visited with Fred Kohman who was an atomic cannon gunsmith. His hair was still a brilliant atomic mushroom red. On their return trip, Gail and Marilyn were listening to Miss Joyce Rhodes on the radio. She had an ed- ucational program in connection with her teaching program. Kent Morgan was on another network broadcast- ing the sports. His station finally drowned Joyce right out of the air. The guest on his show was the former Olympic champion hog caller, Betty Redger. Her hog calling demonstration blew the radio right out of the rocket! After their ten minute trip from Nevada, Gail and Marilyn landed in New York, happy to have seen all their old friends of Hope Hi!
