The daring midnight raid, which came off without a stitch, was prompted by information discovered by an FBI undercover agent assigned to the anchor case, federal authorities said. According to FBI sources. Agent Zelda Skagfang learned of a top anchor tactical planning meeting that was to be held under the guise of a birthday party. Local police kept the known members of the group under surveillance until Friday night, when Governor Milliken mobilized units of the Michigan National Guard. The Guard units surrounded the building where the meeting was being held, and the state and local police moved in, making the arrests. No resistance was offered, police say. but those arrested were searched for dan- gerous weapons, drugs, abortion ads. and VD. An object officially described as being round, fluffy and gooey’looking with some candles stuck in the top was confiscated at the scene, as were several fountain pens and 1939 Underwood Noiseless. Said one police officer: The fact that it has a silencer on it pretty well establishes the fact that they were up to no good, in spite of what they claim. Agent Skagfang had been posing as a cleaning lady on the Hope College campus for the past year in connection with the anchor case, authorities said. Those arrested were: left to right: Tom (The Waterloo Kid) Siderius. Dave (the Knave) Dustin. Big Garrett DeGraff, Greasy Gerald” Swieringa. Bob (Brillo) Roos. Louie ( da Louse ) Schakcl. and Bad Barry Schreibcr. Authorities are still searching for Mad Mary Houting. E. Vcrduin. Kay Hubbard and Bob Blanton. At this time, the group are being held in escrow, awaiting trial. If convicted, they could be hanged in Effigy, a town due cast of Borculo. WTAS ENGLISH HONORS LEFT TO RIGHT Bonnie Garbrecht.
