scsc The repeated cry heard on campus this year was We want a union”. Through the years, students have planned and discussed union jx ssi- bilitics for Hope’s campus: however, nothing concrete had been done ex- cept for the temporary limited facili- ties of the fuliana Room in Durfec basement. Through the united and strong efforts of students and administra- tion. plans are now underway for a student union building. The drive for this facility began with a student demonstration at President Vander Wcrf's home. Preston Maring headed the Student Union Board, working with Bruce Neckers and President WtndcrWcrf. The Student Center Campaign fund committee, headed by Charles Menu ing and Robert Donia staged several projects to earn money such as painting curbs for the city, and operating a gas station. Students bought blue and gold but- tons to indicate their spirit and sup- port. A thermometer was set up near Van Raalte to register progress.
