The Universal Language With the use of rhythm, melody, harmony, and musical instruments, men of different cultures are able to express and communicate feelings and de- sires in their music. Music students at Hope College are provided not only with the fundamental know- ledge and history of music but also the enjoyment and satisfaction of performing and appreciating great music. This year, however, Hope has been distin- guished nationally for its music program. The National Association of Schools of Music, which is the recognized accrediting agency for music de- partments in colleges, universities, and conserva- tories, has accepted Hope College as an associate member.
