fpeaemfdm THE EVENTS WHICH SCHOOL FROM It is 8 40 by the Office Clock We are here 200 of us, ready to be gin the day Our halls are scenes of laughter,cheer,and gayety,as friends rush to and fro greeting friends, pausing for brief conversations Pass ing the office we hear a familiar voice 'Is that your mother s sign aturef' A glance at the clock warns us that there is only one minute to get to the homeroom Suddenly all is quiet The halls are vacant The hi larity of the moment has disappeared as if by magic nJonas Hoover Present 'Richard your excuse plea but deliver us from eviln Of course, we're all going to see the Friedens game UGeorge and Louise are wan e in the office N The bell sounds, again the hall regoundg with mirth for three brief minutes O u s - I n ------- an an ' Sen iiiiiiiiiliiil.. awwsvalle A TYPICAL SENlOR DAY 'All the world s a stage and all the men and women merely players They have the1r??N see what everyone see that You Like he The gum shifts to the left side of my Jaw, as I peek into the book to comes next 0 , yes, 'their exits and their entran e Well, why s so quiet? Class didn t start yet I take one glance around the room and all the lips are moving we re all studying the same selection from' As It ll bell rings and English class starts We all settle down for a good time to watch the teacher dramatize the play She stands near the radiator and starts to read 'As You Like It', and we like it Now the majority of the class are eager 15 watching the progress of NAS You Like Itn under the teacher's direction study my nearby classmates While two of them a boy and a girl, of course, are smiling at each other across the room, another is dozing peacefully How happy he looks with that angelic expression Another girl, a merbe of the 'Hillside' staff, is arranging her camera in order to catch a characteristic pose of the tea cher impersonating Orlando Ready, aim, fire Yes, she really got a ood pose One of the boys giggles at that, and the teacher Just glares at him t at the goung of thepnext bell we are in the hall amid the chatter about Clerical Practice, 0 and hysics T e second period finds us in study hall, doing everything but studying Even such things as setting mouse traps for Amos , discussing the taste of onions and garlic and the methods of making dill pickles, occupy our minds When the bell rings we walk out just as slowly as possible The next class is P O D I, along wit the others, shudder at the thought of being called on to discuss something about which I haven't the slightest idea When the class starts, the teacher and one of the boys get into an argument about labor unions What a relief' Neither I nor the others will be called on today, so while some of the boys catch some much needed forty winks, two of the girls tell the fortunes of all the teachers and all of the members of the class by crossing out letters that app ear in both names Cone a girl, and the other a boy J When the bell rings, we are only too gl d to go to the next class, Business Law There a few of the students decide to practice their singing and several others fall asleep to the music of the 'Beer Barrel Polka A few mild flirtations spring up to add some interest to the class t the sound of the next bell, the mad rush for the homeroom and wraps begin On the way home, the events of the morning form the subject for discussion uDo heard him etc , etc ' Oh, excuse me KI just bumped into one of my teachers Lunch is over and we re back in school in the halls of course, or better in Lover s Lane ly, but some freshmen and sophomore girls are popular Just as the bell rings, I get to my homeroom, grab my books, and am on my way to physics class Suddenly I remember that the assignment for today is a test So that's why the others were peering into their workbooks' Well, the only thing I can do is to take the test and flunk it Do, re, mi fa, sol we're in Mixed Chorus now getting warmed upu for some real singing What fun we've had in music class Shall we ever forget the spring concerts music festivals, all county and all western choruses The memories of them wil live in our hearts forever During the seventh period some of us have Secretarial Office Practice and the rest have study period Now a few of us are in Home Economics class The teacher is demonstrating sa lad making However, I gaze out the window, and my mind wanders far from salads and vitamins Yes, our high school days have been full of fun How well I remem- ber the day when we made up our minds to have basketball KFor that I d1dn't get a perfect attendance certificate J Who will ever forget that game with Friedens?? Our team certainly made a record that's a challenge to the team of 1941 and all the teams to come W 'Andnthen'we'll never forget our class play, nSunbonnet Jane of Sycamore Lane asn t ane charming, and wasn't Toby' funny? In the same class we have the orator who helped put H S on the The publications of our school ma we salute their staffs and their advisers lay they continue the good work Last, but far from least, e pay tribute to our teachers who patiently have guided us through school To them, we give our praise And our classmates, with whom we have worked, quarreled, and played they shall always be a part of the hap- piest days of our lives We have come to the end of our eers for us It is this new career high school career, but there will be new car that we are looking forward to Let cole what may, we shall never lose sight of our high school days Goodness' Is she talking to me? la'am'?
