Not pictured: Marina Kitamura, Heidi Rozier. 1 Once again, as in the past, this year's H ver High School Patriot Cross Country te was an extremely successful group of runne With nearly all of last year's Valley Champi team graduating, Coach Dave Cords had rely on many new faces to keep the Patriots the top. The Pates were led by senior Dean Walk who Won the Fresno City Championship for incredible third straight year, becoming first runner in Fresno's history to do so. Al with Walker, other top runners for the Pa ots included seniors Tod Harris, Mike H kins, Doug Hales, and Jill Welton, jun Todd Snedden, and sensational sophom Matt Lara, whom Coach Cords can look f ward to being a definite asset to the team n year. Overall, the team had a great season, fini ing second in the N.Y.L. behind Clovis Hi Dean Walker explained, All of our runn had an awful lot of talent, but as a group were too inconsistent. We had a success year, which surprised a lot of people, includ ourselves. But, all in all, we had a lot of times together as a team. Pate Volleyball Team Bumps, Sets and Spikes to N.Y.L. Hoover's Girl's Varsity Volleyball team did well this season with a winning record of 10-8. Although they did not obtain the usual lst or 2nd place, they did receive 4th in the N.Y.L. standings. The team was led by three returning senior players, Camilla Brown, Ashlyn Lujano, and Lisa Lund.
