J .V. Shows Their Talent! The Hoover High School, Junior Var- sity Football team, otherwise known as the future green machine , has shown great potential and talent this year, along with balance and precise execu- tion. Achieving goals was the power behind the J.Vfs season. The team finished the season with a 1-9 record, but this record was not a true reflection of this out- standing team's determination, strength, and individual effort. Every ball game was very close. We had a chance to win every ball game we JV'S NUMBER ONE! You know it Ronnie Fernandes. DESTROYER. Chuck Manzell rests before destroying the other team. 66 J.V. Football were in, said J .V. Varsity H20 Polo Team Swims To Victory! The waterpolo team really believed in themselves this year , Coach Hammel ex- plained. And for that reason they zoomed to the top. With only two starters from last year, the team really pulled through. This year was the first time they went through the league games undefeated. The team held on to the Valley title for two years in a row. As Coach Hammel indicated, no school has ever done that before. For the 4th year in a row they were North Yosemite League champions, and in a 9 year term they won 143 games and lost only 32. This year the team won 22 games and lost 3. Tom Robinson was voted most valuable player in the League and in Valley. He scored 183 times in 2 years and broke the old record of 173 times in 3 years. Bill Mortimer, Tom Gleason, and Mike Stuart were chosen first team NYL players. The team would like to give special thanks to Terry Giffen and Bob Diparsloot for the time they spent helping the waterpolo team become successful. Without them they couldn't have done it.
