Cheerleaders did a real good job this year. They were real enthusiastic during the school ral- lies and all through the football season Here are a few words from the J. V. Cheerleaders: Tracey Sherard: Our biggest responsibil- ity is to the sport teams, but we are preparing for competitions early in the year. Trish Haggerton: Sometimes it's difficult to get ev- eryone together for practice, but once we have an idea, we get ex- cited. Sherry Vargus: We work like a family, everyone strives to do the best cheer possible. Auxilaries Twirl Together PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE . . . That's what it takes to march in front of the Patriot Band as a majorette or a lettergirl. Dedication means going to practice at 6:00 a.m. and again at 6:00 p.m. However, practice pays KIM HATCHER says, Ta Da, the star has arrived. JILL SAYS, Oh my gosh Michelle, what are you doing , . , ,fcg , s..-. off, the majorettes won Outstanding Team in field competition and the lettergirls were awarded 1st place in parade competition at the California State Championship Band Review which was held in Clovis. The lettergirls also placed second in both the Selma and Lodi Band Reviews. Twirling. sticks was something totally new and different for the lettergirls this year., Rex Cowart spent many frustrating hours teaching and working with them. The results were pretty good though, except for the many bruises fromi careless spins. Having a majorette team is also a welcome change to thei band. Being together in band this year has meant much more than just, practice. It's the feeling of competition, the excitement of winning KNO: drops? close friendships, and crazy times which will be remembered by alll the majorettes and lettergirls.
