Still, Randa isn't totally accepted by some members of Band, because she is a girl Drum Major, As Senior Band mem- ber Chris May put it, I think Randa does surprisingly well, for a girl. Randa commented, Sometimes I fell like I have to try harder than the other Drum Majors do. It seems like people won't pay attention to what I say just because I'm a girl. But I'll keep doing my job, which hopefully, if I do it right, will get me some respect. Randa has received respect from Band judges, though. She has led the Band to first place performances at every compe- tition they went to this year. Included is the Band's Grand Sweepstakes at the Vi- salia Band Review. Randa is a very determined girl, when it comes to things like fund-raising. For Band's trip to Washington, she not only raised enough money for herself, but she raised money to send her family and her Rodney Doyle Thai Duong Ernie Duran Leroy Duran WOR grandparents along.
