Next Stop World Series? Baseball, perhaps one of the most popular spring sports, heads into the '82 season with great hopes. The team has made it to the valley playoffs for the past two years, and with the help of the senior ball players maybe three will be the charm. Also assisting will be Hoover's coaching staff, consisting of Head Coach Hal Froese, who has been coaching the varsity team for three years, and George Omachi, who has put countless hours of his own time into the club. The juniors of the club also play a big part. Next year they will be leading the team to the fourth great season. COACH GEORGE OMACHI explaining and demonstrating the basics of pitch- ing. Playing The Field Hoover's great happenings of 1982 contin- ued on the Junior Varsity baseball diamond this year. With many top sophomores and a large number of juniors coming out for the team, Coach Herzog was nothing but pleased with the results. The players never gave up this year, striving hard to reach their goals. Hoover rode up the North Yosemite League ladder to the top with their Patriot Pride shin- ing through like a flashlight in the fog! Return- ing to the Pate squad this year were some ex- cellent juniors: Vince Magri, Doug Zavala, John Forestiere, Brennan Wheelock, Paul Martinez, and Kurt Rennels. Also contribut- ing heavily to the Hoover team were super sophomores Chris Lockett, Rick Van Galder, and Sean McClendon. Team spirit, team sportsmanship, and team play lead to team victories for the 1982 Patriot batters. Hoover is extremely proud of your fine efforts. COME ON! Coach Herzog wants Rick VanGalder to con- centrate. J.V. Baseball THERE I GOES! Vince Magri watches as the ball goes by
