One On One HEY! Did you know that girls aren't just cheerleaders and pep girls anymore? Now they're out bouncing the basketball instead of the old pom pom. Hoover's no exception. The Junior Varsity Basketball team showed that it takes more than just a pretty face to get the applause of a cheerling crowd. The team had a good year with a 7-11 record. It was a very big improvement over last year, said Coach Julie Domingo. She hopes for an even better team next year. So don't be surprised guys, when a girl comes up to you and challenges you to a game of one on one. THIS ONES FOR GRANNY. Irma shoots with such de- termination. 98 Girls JV Basketball Top Row L to R. Powder Puff Football is spon- sored by Campus Life, which is a Christian organization affiliated 4N with Youth for Christ - an off-cam- pus organization. Powder Puff is a lot of fun, and a good chance to meet new people, but it's also a lot of hard work in icy cold weather. There were many cold fingers, a few scratches and scrapes and even a bump on the head. And they call this flag foot- ball? The coaches are part of what made being on the team so much fun. They had a lot of patience with us even though they did laugh at our mistakes. They always watched out for us though and kept us from getting cold by making us run laps. Out of the five games we played, without a doubt, the most memora- ble one had to be against Bullard in the mud. It was impossible to run without slipping. The final score was 29-7 tHooverJ. By the time we left the field, we looked like we had been mud wrestling instead of playing football. This was the only game we won, and we didn't make the finals but we still had a great time.
