In the year 1952, one of the largest classes, numbering 98, entered the portals of the Hoosick Falls High School. After assembly that morning we gathered in Room 27, the study hall, to begin the best years of our lives. Our advisors were Miss Hiney and Mrs. Potts. When the excitement of initiation by the Seniors was over and we were ready to get down to business, we elected the following class officers: President--------- Raymond Sheffer Vice President.........................Greta Daun Secretary ------------------------ p0Uy Armstrong Treasurer -------------------------- Janice LeBarron We earned $101 from our first project which was selling magazines. In January the following monitors were elected: Edmond Mansueto, Hugh Pine, Roland Bugbee, and Deborah Dooley. We also elected Janice LeBarron and Fritz Strieker as our student council representatives. We were honored by having Fritz Strieker, a German exchange student, in our class that year. Our class also sponsored a basketball game in which the freshman girls played against the freshman boys. By the time our Sophomore year began we were fewer in number and our advisors and home- rooms were as follows: Mrs. Kelly, Room 11; Miss Deliganis, Room 14; and Miss Hulihan, Room 29. With our freshman class President, Raymond Sheffer. at our first class meeting, the following class officers were elected. President -- - -- --------------------Ronald Piritz Vice President.........................Ray Sheffer Secretary ------------------------- Olga Mitchell Treasurer --------------------------- Wanda Webster Our student council members were: Greta Daun, Ann Bouplon, Janice LeBarron, Richard Niles, Leon Rudd, Ronald Piritz. The monitors were: Greta Daun, Helen Darling, Jerry Tate, Raymond Sheffer, June Johnson, and Deborah Dooley. In April, our class had a food sale at Cuddihy's store. Shortly after, the day for National Honor Society arrived and we, being the sister class to the Seniors, followed the old tradition by presenting each Senior with a rose. This year our class was honored by having Rudolf Kock, another German exchange student with us. @ H€tU€Ue€C In September 1954 we became Juniors to start one of the busiest years in our class's history. Our advisors and homerooms were Mr. Shafer, Room 14 and Mr. Ralston, Room 15. The same month we held our first class meeting and elected the following class officers: President ------------------------ — - - Leon Rudd Vice President-----------------------Raymond Sheffer Secretary — ----------------------- Janice LeBarron Treasurer - -- -- -- -- -- -- - Louann Merrill Janet Pine, Ronald Piritz, Deborah Dooley and Janice LeBarron represented our class in the student council and our monitors were Janet Pine, Greta Daun, Polly Armstrong, and Jerry Tate. This year our President appointed a special fund raising committee which included Janet Pine, Helen Darling, Beverly Johnson, Jerry Tate, and David Pine. We sold school pennants as our first project. In April came the day that every Junior waits for when they would get their class rings. Being different this year, we decided to have our Junior Prom before Regents week. So on June 3rd we held our Junior Prom with Harry Vincent’s Orchestra furnishing the music. The theme of the prom was Melody of Love based on a popular instrumental tune that year. The class chose as their king and queen of the prom Jerry Tate and Janice LeBarron. Then came the decisive tests which made us glad the year had ended. At last the class of '56, numbering 59, became Seniors with their advisors and homerooms as follows: Mrs. Coburn, Room 15 and Mrs. Von Haggin, Room 28. We elected the following class officers while we were still Juniors: President----------------------------- Leon Rudd Vice President - -- -- -- - — -Raymond Sheffer Secretary-------------------------- Janice LeBarron Treasurer - -- — - - - — — - - Louann Merrill We elected Ann Bouplon, Janice LeBarron, Ronald Piritz, Ronald Seifert as our student council representatives. Richard Niles was elected student council president for that year. Our monitors were: Louann Merrill, Greta Daun, Helen Darling, and Raymond Sheffer. In Septem- ber we sold magazines as we did in our freshman year. Next our class sponsored the Freshman- Senior Get Together, which was designed for the purpose of having the freshmen and seniors get to know each other better. Out class had their Winter Ball or Senior Prom shortly before Christ- mas. Ray Nelson's Orchestra supplied the music. The gym was decorated to give one the spirit of Christmas. Then we put on an assembly program by sponsoring another one of our favorite basketball games with the senior girls against the senior boys. We were once more honored by having Hubertus Linder and Lenhard Schmidt, two German exchange students with us that year. The Junior Class had several food sales during the year at Cuddihy's and in November, we held a dance in the gymnasium. This was round and square dancing to the music of Bess Wurm and her orchestra, from Salem. Of course the big event in our lives as juniors is the Prom. That is yet to come, but plans are under way and we hope it will be a big success. The Junior Class sponsors are Miss Hulihan and Mr. Peckham. The Student Council has made a definite attempt this year under the guidance of Miss Grant to grow in importance as a necessary cog in the wheel of the students activities in our high school life. The leadership of the boys in this activity increases each year. Under the guidance of Richard Niles, S. C. President, the entire school entered into the spirit of a Dress-Up Week sponsored by the Student Council in December. It was a pleasure to see the students attending classes togged in their neatest. A basic activity is the planning, arranging, and management of assembly programs. Ronald Piritz was kept busy all year with this important phase of the work. The help given him by Perle Cross, a Freshman, was considerable. Student Council looks forward next year to broadening its scope of activities. ihis Was Vjs ??r ‘S z4efcUl 7m k First row; W.
