BASEBALL On April 27 we opened the 1956 baseball season against Stillwater, where, in the rain, we were beaten 6-1. On May 1, in a return engagement with Stillwater, we beat them 14-1. Then we opened our league schedule, we defeated Greenwich 11-1, Fort Ann 16-6 and Hartford 3-2 on a no-hitter by Ron Feulner. With Ron, Parker Staples, and Roger Tordoff leading the way we continued our winning ways blasting Salem 9-1, with Ron hurling a one-hitter, and Cam- bridge 6-4. With a record of 5 wins and 0 losses, we had only to beat Argyle for the league champion- ship. It was a cold, windy day as the large crowd waited for the game to begin. Argyle garn- ered two runs in the second and one in the fifth for a 3-0 lead. In the sixth, we got to make it 3-1. Although we had men on base in almost every inning, we just cou1dn't push them across and lost the game and the championship to Argyle 3-1. This year's team included: Pitcher, Ron Feulnerg Catchers, Bob Collins, Speanburgg lst Base men, Bob Bevis, Dick Casey, 2nd Basemen, Pete Kozlowski, and Gene Foster, 3rd Basemen, Leo Madigan and Don Foster, Shortstops, Roger Tordoff, and Parker Staples, outfields, Cliff Williams Walt Barber, Phil Del-freest, Charles Croll, Austin Subcleff, and Gus King.
