There were approximately twenty- three boys trying out for the team, eighteen of whom were on the squad when the season got under way. The opening game was on Thanksgiving Eve, and the Hoosic five started the season with a crushing victory over Galway--the score 55 to 21. After traveling to Hoosick Falls to be beaten by St. Mary's Academy, the Indians returned home for three games. Berlin was beaten in a thrilling overtime period, St. Mary's defeated our boys by ten points, and the series of non- league games was brought to a close with another victory over Galway. The squad opened its league schedule with a flourish by trounoing Cam- bridge 55 to 19, but then journeyed to Fort Ann to be defeated by ten points. Returning home, the Indians scalped Hartford, which was undefeated until then, in an overtime thriller. With a two and one record, the quintet went to Salem only to be beaten by twenty some points. The determined Hoosic five bounced back after the lacing they received from Salem to take three games in a row, putting them in second place with a very good chance of taking first. Argyle and Fort Ann were beaten at home, and the team then traveled to Cambridge to take what proved to be the final victory of the season. Luck turned against the tribe at this point for it lost the remaining three games, Salem at home and two away games at Argyle and Hartford. The Valley Junior Varsity had a successful season this year winning eleven out of fifteen games. They took first place in the Washington County League and had a winning streak of nine games, losing their last league game in an overtime contest at Argyle. The Hoosic Valley squad had one of the best years in basketball in the school's history. All told it won eight out of fifteen games, and lost only two on its home court. The Indians finished third in the league standings with a record of five wins and five losses. The team's remarkable progress in the past three years is ample evidence of the skill, patience, and hard work of our coach and of a strong school spirit. 1 fwfln 'pw Al ire: XTJ1, f w4'UfffxXWJM W w't'flfW'MV M y W ff' lxllgfrmlymw lfflff WU f' 'FJ 31 N , X 8,115 .,? -1 -1- Q -. -Y --. -- Y- -- -il --T-4 .L , LP.--, in 1' . n ' I 'n- Vl T nj X X 444 ,f x 'igisy h-0, .ff X - ,' X i a3EW 'W WU IEFZE , s 1, - -n ,f - , Ns ' -1 , .l 1 I!
