E. GEORGE LAVINO ’26 ALUMNUS, TRUSTEE, GOOD FRIEND It is with great pleasure that we, the editors, dedicate the 1988 Owl to Mr. Lavino. Over the years Mr. Lavino has been one of Hoosac’s greatest champions. Joining the Board of Trustees in 1952 he has served as Chairman as well as on numerous committees. His enthusiastic support of the school has been unflagging, having seen the school through both hard times and good. At a dinner in his honor last December, Headmaster Donn Wright announced the establishment of a new endowment fund called the “E. George Lavino Education Trust,” thanking “Mr. Hoosac” for his years of dedicated service to the school. DEDICATION 2

— The Last Setting Sun We exclaim “Friends now, Friends Forever.” The sun is setting on our glorious youth Golden water has been laid at our feet, and a spell has been cast upon us all giving us time to learn and love. Will this happiness end when we stalk a podium to receive that anticipated scroll? In our hearts the memories of each other will never die. TO THE CLASS OF 1988, Congratulations to you on the comple- tion of your secondary education at Hoosac. You’re the largest class that we’ve graduated in quite a long time. As one of your members pointed out, you’re “a larger group than the whole school was when I first came here.” You have led the school very well this year in athletic accomplish- ments and your Prefects have been among the best I can remember.
