HOOSAC SCHOOL Hoosick, New York 4 1987 HOOSAC OWL EDITOR: MARBIE PARSHALL PHOTOGRAPHY EDITOR: HEATHER FOSTER ADVERTISING MANAGER: CLIFF ASHLEY FACULTY ADVISER: RICHARD LOMUSCIO DEDICATION MARTIN LO WENFISH THE MAN AND HIS WORK More than a quarter of a century of service to Hoosac! Architect • Trustee • Good Friend MEMORIAL HALL — 1964 LAVINO HOUSE — 1969 CANNON HOUSE — 1970 PITT-MASON HALL — 1967 2 Donn and Barbara Wright Headmaster’s Greeting to the Class of 1987 The Class of 1987 will become particularly important in Hoosac’s history because of important changes that your class represents. First of all, you’re a substantially larger number of students to graduate from Hoosac for many years. Your numbers represent a new vigor and vitality in the life and progress of the school. You’re not only the last senior class to have smoking permission at Hoosac, you are the first in almost a decade to lead the school back to its tradition of fielding winning teams against our larger opponents. You have done much to build good morale and a winning attitude. (1 hope some of you use that strength to quit smoking on your own). Next, you have done well for yourselves academically and produced an impressive long list of good college acceptances. I wish to thank you for your contributions to Hoosac. You have set an example for successive senior classes to follow so that you and other alumni can always be proud that Hoosac is your school. I hope you will come back and visit when you can. Also, drop us a line once in a while and tell us your news. Mrs. Wright and 1 wish you success, good health and happiness always! May God bless you and keep you mindful of the needs of others. Sincerely, (j£- Donn D. Wright Headmaster 3 THE CLASS OF 1987 «4 W • 4 Leif Peter Booger ■+ ■ «ft ft A - ••• ■ Sj'aS . The girls soc- cer team started out strong, winning their first game, and then met with some disappointment, finishing with a 2-8 record. The boys, meanwhile had a season of ups and downs, finishing the season at 4-7, just missing the playoffs by one game. Although having a short season. Cross-country did very well. They blew away Highcroft and did well in other meets. The team placed 3rd in the Taconic Conference putting 4 runners in the top 10. In the winter, the Basketball team played hard all season, but came up empty in every game, sometimes out-playing the opposition, but always being out-scored by them. This spring, Hoosac’s Tennis team was also winless, but many new players learned the game and will be sure to help the team next year. Our girls Softball team again made it to the semi-finals, only to lose to Darrow. Lacrosse played extremely well ending up with a record of 4-3. This is the first Hoosac Lacrosse team to have a winning record. Soccer First row: Chip Puppolo, Masa Tokunaga, Dave Morris, Rob Sweet, Cliff Ashley, Josh Mobley, Jimmy Ryan. I bury my head in trembling hands. A nd tears fall as I pray. Dear God, Unworthy as I am I only ask one thing of thee Bless the ones I love tonight. And help them to remember me. THE RUIZ FAMILY Just help them to keep me in their hearts, 'til soon we meet again. And even though we’re far apart, I love them God Amen. 63 As the leaves change color, new and old students arrive, to a place so near but yet so far from home. A place where they meet and keep friends from all over the world. They will share good times and bad and hopes and dreams. Then the winter months come and shed a face of gloom around the campus, but inside there is a sense of cheer, that no one seems to fear. A nd once again the snow will fall, and so will the children one and all. Winter means that half the year's gone by and only leaves another half to fill us up inside. As the snow melts, the flowers bloom and so do the faces on these young children about to face the world again, as soon as these months roll by and oh do they roll by with each new day bringing something new. and the next day giving them something to look forward to. Then comes the end where seniors leave to another world, a world that all of us will get to eventually. But for now I am content with where I am and the things around me. For Hoosac is a place filled with memories for us all, ofgood and bad, and spring and fall. Emily Singer 64 ■
