WE’RE ON THE MOVE PROUD OF OUR TRADITIONS ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT THE PRESENT EAGER FOR THE FUTURE 1986 OWL HOOSAC SCHOOL HOOSICK, NEW YORK EDITOR: EMILY SINGER; ASSISTANT EDITOR: MARBIE PARSHALL; ADVERTISING MANAGER: CLIFF ASHLEY; PHOTO EDITORS: JOHN DOOLEY, HEATHER FOSTER; ADVISER: RICHARD LOMUSCIO. IN MEMORY OF FR. CANNON DEDICATION The 1986 edition of The Owl is dedicated to the memory of The Rev. Henry Brevoort Cannon. Fr. Can- non was a student here under our founder, Dr. Tibbits. He later served on Hoosac’s Board of Trustees, for many years as Chairman. Fr. Cannon was acting headmaster of the school in 1966 and in 1970 moved on campus to be Rector. Throughout his many years of dedication to Hoosac and its students, he stood as an uncompromising strong moral force. Fr. Cannon will remain a significant figure in the history of the school. HEAD- MASTER’S GREETING Dear Class of 1986, Thank you for all you did to make your Sixth Form year a successful one for Hoosac as well as for yourselves. Most of you sensed that your school is on the move towards a more distinguished reputation than ever. You are going to be more and more proud of the fact that Hoosac is your school as the years pass. I hope that in your status as alumni, you will participate in our healthy climb towards greater service to American education and to mankind in whatever way suits you. Mrs. Wright and I wish for your happiness and a beautiful life ahead. Come and visit us when you can. We want to hear from you and about you. Remember the Whitcomb girls: KB, CH, JF, WP, SZ, and VW. JF, remember the water fights, the long talks, the garbage can? Nicki, don’t forget Florida. It was fun. Even the 29 hours on the train. Bill, you’re the best thing that has ever happened to me. You gave me the incentive to try harder at whatever I do. There have been times when my life has fallen apart. But my friends were always there to help me come back stronger and more self- confident. There have been times when we were having so much fun I never wanted it to end. But since everything must come to an end, we’ll always have those memories. Dad, I especially want to thank you. You never gave up on me or let me down. Sometimes we yelled, sometimes we cried, and sometimes we laughed. Through the good and the bad, we’ve only become closer. 1 LOVE YOU! Dare to do what you dream. Search your heart to know what you most desire to do; then do it, for you can become by perseverance what you long to be. — SSC Your daughter, Stephanie 21 FORM V From left: HJ Chang, J. Fogarty, D. Although the new girls’ soccer team did not win a game, the season ended with a bang — Sarah Muckerman and Courtney Robinson scored the first two goals of the season in the middle of the last game. The boys’ soccer team’s winning season brought them to the playoffs while basketball players made it to the semi-finals. The newly formed girls’ softball team just missed making the playoffs while baseball players made it to the semi-finals only to lose against DeSisto, 11-10. The Lacrosse team, although not claiming any wins, did play with determination and spirit. SOFTBALL 31 Front row. from left: N. Joscphy. M. Parshall. D. Dosik. S. Zillessen, S.
