Hoosac School 1983 OWL 1 Dedication Each year the senior class dedicates its yearbook to a certain person who they feel has contributed the most to their life at HOOSAC. We, the class of 83, have chosen a person whom we feel deserves this special honor. If we listed everything this person has done for HOOSAC, we would go on for pages. While at HOOSAC, he has brought on great social and economic changes as well as enhancing the physical appearance of the school. He is very dedicated to the school and has always put the needs of the school before the needs of his own. It is with great admiration and thanks that we, the 1983 Senior Class of HOOSAC SCHOOL, dedicate our yearbook to our own Headmaster, Mr. Samuel S. Greene. After Scarborough Fair Mellowing breezes of soft summer wind Flow through the minds of millions Bur few, in any, can catch the leaves Before school in winter's cold haven. Yes; it's a time of hurrying And before the stars stop shining You must look into her eyes and See your future, and the will that Can make your lives better. Hurry and run from the night Into the day, leaving only a path. Through the leaves, that the world Will follow. Keep it close to your heart, A place of secret refuge, on the hill In the midst of winter's cold haven. Through the trees and over the brook. Look out, and see your future, see her; Follow her with your mind, in the early Dew of spring, see her hair blow in the wind Follow her until you reach the edge Then look around, and realize you Made it, uncut by the thorns. As you look out on a dear blue ocean But she's gone, and you can hear the Whispering of the wind, saying Your lives have just begun; go Out and find her, and best wishes. 3 Addresses Andrews, Dana, 79 Garfeild Ave., P.O. One can have the poten- tials; however that's not good enough, you must use those with which the Lord has blessed you. One should remember that success is achieved by hard work One's talents will remain hidden as long as they are kept hidden. Get serious and put all your ef- forts in the good things you wish to pursue and suc- cess will always be yours. My senior year at Hoosac has been a tremendous experience. One that I will always remember. There will be a time when I can look back and cherish moments that I shared, in and out of the class room. My thanks goes to teachers and students that made my year an enjoyable one. Also to my parents that made it all possible. My ambition in life is to one day become a profes- sional Journalist. My hobbies are reading, playing soft- ball and listening to music. Enjoy life and remember the road to success is open to us all. MOTTO: LIVE, LOVE, LEARN and be happy always. These two teams compete against each other in athletic events during the winter term. From the scavenger hunt to the tug-of-war, each student had a great time as the Antonians trampled the Graftonians. 33 Varsity A The Varsity A soccer team played another typical season at Hoosac Coach Bartosik was quoted as saying Although our season's winning percent- age was not impressive, the team's sportsmanship on the field made every player proud of being a member of the 82- 83 Varsity A soccer team. 34 Varsity B The Varsity B soccer team had an eventful year during the 82-83 season. Although they had some tough games. Coach Swankey stated that The team always strived for better at each game, making each player more experienced and ready for the Varsity A team next year. 35 Cross Country This year's cross country team has certainly been most rewarding. Coach Bob Stackpole gave us that extra push when we needed it. His dedication and perseverence helped boost our morale so that the season was truly enjoyable. 36 Varsity Basketball The 82-83 basketball team played an Impressive season, the style of play was excellent. Although their record wasn't winning, their sportsmanship and knowledge of the game were evident. Coach Hahn said that he was impressed with the way the team played during the season. In fact, two players were voted into the All-Star Game: Lamine N'Diaye and Sean Peoples. 37 BASEBALL TEAM: Coach Bartosik, Hiroshi Ono, Tony King, Jorge Saade, Tomo Miyama, Bill Hong, Byong Man Kim, Ali N'Diaye 3rd Row Keith McNulty, Lamine N'Diaye, Jeff Whitesell, Danny Hwang 2nd Row Masa Kawai, Sean Peoples, Howard Bandoo, Omar Warren Front Row: Gigi Brummer, Felicia Taft, Lola Szent-Gyorgyi, Ronnie Armbrister Miss«ng: Ron Armbrister TRACK TEAM: Coach Mottley, Fred Sura, Seth Wicks, C. The annual event thrilled both young and old and left the audience applauding and waiting for next year's magical event. 40 41 CM 43 DRAMA The Drama Department at Hoosac, under the direc- tion of Michael Herron, opened on Parent's Weekend with a musical comedy named Earth- lings.
