c ✓hoo Choo! ALL ABOARD! The 1988 Conjerker Express is ready to roll. We, the Yearbook Staff, would like to thank you all for riding and hope your year on our train brings you special experiences, memories, and friendships. Our train is run by our administrators — the Engineers. The conductors are the faculty who teach the passengers how to keep on track to enter our next train in life. The passengers are the students of Hoopeston — East Lynn High School. There are special passengers, the Foreign Exchange Students, from other countries. Then the Juniors who have one last train to ride and the Sophomores who have two more trains to ride. Finally, the Seniors who are on their last train ride of high school. The train starts slowly as new passengers come aboard. As all the passengers become acquainted new friendships are created and old ones are renewed. The train continued to gain speed. There are many bumps and turns in the tracks which represent coping with problems and meeting new people. The train runs full speed ahead as the year flies by. Then we realize that this train is about to come to a halt. The Seniors may be both sad and glad to finally depart the 1988 Cornjerker Express. They will remember all the knowledge they have gained to help them find their new train into the future, for there are many goals to be accomplished and new friendships to be created. And maybe on some far away train, the doors may open to old friends from the 1988 Cornjerker Express. We hope you all enjoy the message that our train theme brings. For life is just many continuing trains which we all must ride.

Being on the staff also meant putting the group’s interest ahead of personal interests Our editor Ter- ri Hari definitely did this Terri has worked very hard to bring you the best possible yearbook. 1988 brought many changes to the staff With the addition of Rankin and Wellington students, the new members of the staff brought innovative ideas with them to join with the ideas of our Hoopeston — East Lynn students. We hope you like the ways we combined everyone’s thoughts. Our staff had a very good year selling advertisements Brian Stumph and Angie Tyler were the top salespersons; however, everyone on the staff helped and we sold over 125 ads to various businesses. We also sold over two hundred books this year, a record number for the past few years We made a sincere effort to get a picture of everyone who purchased a book (no easy job to accomplish!) in it We hope we captured” on these pages the real you!! We would like to acknowledge and thank several individuals who helped us prepare the book. Thank you Mr. Christine, Nicki, and other Camera Club members for all the long hours you spent taking and developing pictures. Thank you Libby Witty and Roa Christine for coming out during the summer and helping with final layouts. Your help was greatly appreciated, especially since you two were not even members this year. And. thank you students and faculty for being the focus of our memories. It’s been a good year and thanks for the memories . ..! The Picayune Staff Laying down on the job, Terri?
