HQQPESTQN-EflST LYNN NIEN 5EN0QL Famous expression?!?! The title of this yearbook, “Expressions, was chosen because it best suits our ex- citing year. Of course, we can never forget our third trip “To The Hall to win our second consecutive third place basketball title. What a way to end a season! The team worked hard to ac- complish what they did, and they will always remain the number one team in the fans’ hearts. Another great memory in sports was the wrestler who qualified for the state tour- nament. Congratulations to Donny Anderson and to the other members of the wrestling team for a fine season. We’re proud of you! The new year also brought about some new faces to our school system. We welcomed a new Superintendent, Mr. Dale Miller, and his secretary, Miss Betty Good. New band and choir directors were ad- ded to our fine teaching staff as well; Mr. Mark Lindvahl and his wife, Marty Lindvahl. The departure of Mr. Turner, our Industrial Arts instructor, was a sad one, but we would like to give a warm greeting to Mr. Russell Stewart, who will be replacing Mr. Turner. In a final note, the year- book staff of 1985-86 wishes to express to the graduating class of 1986 the best to all in the years to come. We want you to remember all the special memories you have shared with your friends this year, so take a glance at the year- book every once in a while and remember the great times. Sincerely, Michelle Neal, Editor Kim Doyle, Co-Editor and the H-EL Yearbook Staff Good stuff, Maynard! Let me tell you about this hairdo!! Who are YOU guys rooting for? Fill in your own caption. The band, under the direction of Mr. and Mrs. Lindvahl, placed in all the competitions they were a part of. The Marching Jerkers took home a second place trophy in field and parade competition and Robin Coon was awarded Outstanding Drum Major at the Paxton In- vitational. They were given a seventh place rating at the Illinois Band Festival Parade. The band also performed at several community parades and, of course, pre-game and halftime at home football games. For a field trip, the band traveled to Chicago to watch the finals of the Tropicana Music Bowl and to see Maynard Ferguson and his band perform. All in all, the band had a fun year. The Marching Cornjerkers would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Lindvahl for putting up with us this year. The bonfire was held on Thursday night while on Friday we raised the spirit of the team with a pep assembly and a Homecoming parade. The Junior class of 87 placed first in the float competition, Thespians took second, and the Seniors placed third. Unfortunately, the Homecoming football game didn't turn out as well as we had hoped, but Jeff Gaffney pulled us through with our first touchdown of the season. KARLJOHNSON This book has been dedicated to many people, but the true dedication belongs to a good friend and colleague, Karl Johnson. Karl has worked with both the Senior and Junior High School Yearbook staffs and has spent at least 20 to 30 hours a week developing pictures in the darkroom, not to mention the time he spends taking pic- tures of all our school events in order to keep our book on schedule. Words cannot express the importance of Karl to this project, nor can they express the great loss we will experience next year when we are in need of his quality work. The following mini-magazine of Assembly Hall photos displays Karl's photographic excellence. These displays have been mounted on the wall above the lockers in the main hall throughout the year. Here are some of his photos so we can always remember his fine displays.
