Seven HEL Students Fly to Hawaii for June Vacation Seven HEL students journeyed to Hawaii last June for a week of fun-filled activities. The trip was organ- ized by Ms. Odle in coordination with IES. The group had a IV.2 hour non-stop flight from Chicago to Honolulu. After arriving and being greeted with the traditional lei, they were taken to the NapuAlani Hotel, located two blocks from Waik- iki Beach. Highlights of the trip included a trip to the Big Island” to view the Volcano Nat. Park, the Black Sand Beach, Rainbow Falls, and Liliuokalani Park. On the Island of Oahu, they visited the Polynesian Cultural Center, the Kodak Hula Show, the Punch- bowl Nat. Cemetery, and Pearl Harbor. All were able to purchase Hawaiian souvenirs of clothing and monkey-pod goods. Dinner at Tavanas and the luaus provided an opportunity to sample exotic food. Most agreed that the high point of the trip was the catamaran sunset dinner sail on their last night in the 50th state. Ms. Odle picking up some samples of black sand at Kaimu Beach.
