The council sponsored interesting and educational assembly programs throughout the year. We also sponsored recreation night, Homecoming, school movies, Concessions, and the AFS Carnival. We were very fortunate this year to have an AFS student from Ecuador, Amparo Endora. The council tried to initiate an open lunch hour. We distributed petitions along with letters for parent's consent. After these steps were taken, three members of the coun- cil were selected to present the petitions before the school board. The board refused our act because the saftey of the students might be endangered. G.. T s S . GIRLS ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION One of the purposes of G.A.A. is to provide opportunities for high school girls to participate with each other in a variety of sports and sports-related activities. This year our G.A.A, participated in bowling, volleyball, and baseball seasons. Other related activities included a wiener roast, a slumber party, three volley- ball sports days, and one bowling sports day. Something new was started in G,A,A, this year - interscholastic sports. We formed two volleyball teams and went to various towns to play. We also had two bowling teams and bowled in a sports day in Danville.
