Joseph Moore TO THE SENIORS OF 1968: It is indeed gratifying to the members of the Board of Education to be associated with the educational system of the community. We are justly proud of the school system, the administration, the faculty, and the student body. We hope that each graduating senior does not think of the diploma as Utopia in the educational program, but as a plateau in the stair steps to individual betterment. We hope that your grade school and high school years have ade- quately prepared you for college or your vocation. Remember, success is nothing but a good idea coupled with hard work. Success is getting what you want; happi ness is wanting what you get. 4 TO THE STUDENTS OF HOOPESTON HIGH: As you turn through the pages of this book in la- ter years and reflect upon happenings here recorded, I trust that your reflections will be pleasant ones. Always remember that your experiences, good or bad, are directly related to what you contribute to- ward them. Congratulations to the yearbook staff and spon- sor for the production of this fine book. Leo Huffman MR. LEO C. HUFFMAN, Superintendent MISS NAOMI ALKIRE, Secretary MR. JOHN F. The marching band received the following awards this year: Sweetcorn Festival Parade--First Place Illinois Wesleyan University--Third Place Eastern Illinois University--non-competitive After marching season, the band forms into a concert band, pep band for basketball games, stage band, brass choir, woodwind choir, and other small ensembles. These groups participate in State contests, community functions, and a concert tour to various high schools throughout this part of the State of Illinois. The Instrumental and Vocal Departments combined efforts to present the musical My Fair Lady . Months of time and effort by students and faculty went into this production which was very well received by the general public. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the students, faculty members, and the fine people of Hoopeston for their cooperation and support of the instrumental music program in our school system. The Hoopeston Cornjerkers had an overall win-loss record of 1-6-1 and a 1-5 win-loss record in the rugged Wauseca Confer- ence to finish in fifth place. Although the Cornjerkers record was not impressive, the team displayed much spirit and deter- mination that they earned a reputation of being tough and agressive. It can be said about this team-that they might have been outscored, but they were never out fought.
