ZWJGV Senior Reminiscening It seems that our class has had quite a bit of adjusting to do all thru school--changing schools, no senior trips, etc., but we have lots to look back at. To help get into the swing of high school life, we elected Paul Unger as president of our class of 112 . To help him we chose Ann Olson, vice- presidentg Danny Seiters, secretary-treasurer, and Mrs. Olson and Mr. Wilson, sponsors. We were specially honored when Sandy Thomas was crowned queen of the Valentine Dance. As our sophomore year rolled around we were saddened by the fact that it was our last year at old J. G. We chose Beth Galloway as president, supported by Danny Seiters, vice-president: and Mike Murray, secretary- treasurer. Mr. Campbell and Miss Heacock were our sponsors. Once again our candidate for the valentine dance, Sheila Hufford, was crowned queen of the festivities . I'll never try to be a salesman again, was one of the vows made during our Junior magazine sale. We earned enough to put on a beautiful prom for the seniors, using the theme--Oriental F antasy. Paul Unger was elected president of the Champaign District of Student Councils which made us very proud . Lietta Strickler was also chosen for high honor being elected sec- retary of the Student Librarians of East Central Illinois. Pat Gholson and Sandy Thomas were two of the five cheerleaders for the senior year. Ann Olson was chosen to represent our school at Girls' State while Larry Duies was our representative for Boys' State. As leaders for the senior year Paul Unger was chosen president while Mike Murray, vice-presidentg Dick Matthews, treasureri and Suzanne Umbanhower, secretary made sure of a good year for the juniors. Miss Bury and Mr. Collier 'were our sponsors. The year we had looked forward to for a long time, finally arrived. We had many leaders this year with Dick Matthews, presidentg Don Dean, vice- president: Pat Gholson, secretary, Nancy Weber, treasurer: and Mr. Allen and Miss Martin, our sponsors. Shirley Riley and Jim Webb were a queen and king for the jr-Sr Prom. We had many problems this year, especially with our S215 .991 The Sen- iors-only party we finally decided on was one of the best. The seventy-one seniors that graduated in June were all glad that they had stuck it out for the four years . We now present tlae supporting mst consisting of the junior and Sophomore classes - - - Tlnespietns 63-5 E. Longfellow OFFICERS: SPON SORS B. Lloyd Miss P. Bury I. Gregory Mr. W. Collier I. Mott Junior Class Story To start our junior year off right, we elected our class officers: jack Gregory, presidentg Bill Lloyd, vice-president: Joan Mott, secretaryg and Bud Longfellow, treasurer. For their second year, Miss Bury and Mr. Collier were chosen for the junior class sponsors . Marilyn Webb served as secretary of the student council. Mary jane Silver, Patti Mitchell, Barb Linck, Andy Melin, Bill Lloyd, and John Berg- strom represented our class on the council. The junior class Homecoming attendants were Linda Lowe and Marilyn Webb. Our float, Don't Let the Kitty Get In won third prize. With the junior class host of the jr.-Sr. Prom, we sold magazines to finance a Prom everyone would be proud of. We also sponsored a Sock- Hop to add to the Prom fund. We chose Around the World in Eighty Days as the theme, and every junior can feel proud of the wonderful Prom we gave the senior class! To add the finishing touch to at last being upper classmen, our class rings arrived. For the crest we chose a large H with an ear of corn representing the Cornjerkers in the center of the H . Martha Songer and Larry McLain were chosen as the queen and king candidates of our class for the Valentine Dance. We were delighted when they were crowned King and Queen. Five of our classmates were elected into the National Honor Society. They were Helen DeVore, Patti Mitch ell, Marilyn Webb, john Bergstrom, and Bill Lloyd. Joan Mott did a tremendous job of cheering our team on during all the football and basketball games as one of the five cheerleaders. junior Guidance Day brought the dreaded Term Papers l It was a sigh of relief when the last note was made, and the last line written. Our class has made a fine showing in all phases of school activities this yearg sports, dramatics, music, as well as having a wonderfultime. Next year we'll try to make our senior year even more successful than our junior year. We're confident we can-and will! Edwards DeVore Crews Beaver fSr. Hall Monitorj Davis Duffin Duffin I L L J. J. Kell Sophomore Class Story The sophomores have been very busy this year, working hard as well as having fun. For our hard work, we have had many rewards. One of our first rewards was winning first place for our Homecoming Float with the theme, White Hunters During the fall, winter, and spring our class has contributed players to the football, basketball and track teams. In the field of drama, sophomores made up more than their share of those working on crews and also in the casts. Blithe Spirit, Night Must Fall, and the Boy Friend all owe a lot to our class. Next year the cheerleaders will be from our class, as five of our repre- sentatives, won the election this year. All in all, we feel that we have proved our worth and during honors day, awards in all activities--rifle club, GAA, athletics, concessions, and so forth, bear out this claim. We will be looking forward to other years of service, work and fun. R. I. E. M. I. S. F etters Ferris Fliesser Frazier Gaddis F ix H. Bogart R. Anderson K. Barber P. Gholson 1Sr. Hall Monitorj D. Only 3 other schools in the United States have a similar program in which management and leaders from an industry become the teachers, taking over a social science--economics classroom for four weeks during which by lectures, demonstrations, field trips and finally by actual practical work in operation of a business, they instruct the students in what the American Free Enterprise System and Industry really are.
