HISTORIAN LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT We, the Senior Class of Hookerton High School, in this the city of Hookerton, County of Greene and State of North Carolina, being of superior intelligence, strong bodies, and un- marred conscience, do hereby make and declare this our last will and testament. ARTICLE I To the school, as our gift, with the grateful cooperation of the Juniors, we leave the stage scenery, with hopes for many successful productions in future years. ARTICLE II To our principal, Mr. Venters, we leave our basketball ability for him to use in the county tournaments. ARTICLE III To the Juniors, we leave the head-aches and heart-breaks of publishing the HOOKERTON SPIRIT and the HO- HI ECHOES. To the Sophomores and Freshmen, we leave the good times in the library study hall. As individuals, we generously leave the following: I, Rachel Williams, leave my bashfulness to Anne Hardy. I, Linda Jones, leave my forward position on the ball team to Lewellyn Davis. I, Janice Moore, will my height to Martha Ann Albritton. I, Ann Pittman, bequeath my quick temper to Sue Connor. I, David Gray, leave my curly hair to Robert Creech. I, Tommy Beamon, leave my athletic prowess to Dallas Stepps. I, James David, leave my ability to keep silent on class to Billy Hardy. I, Seth Phillips, will my love for sports to J. L. Harrison. I, Everette Creech, bequeath my quick wit to Charles Carraway. Poor Soul ! Everette Creech Testator PROPHECY In just a short time we graduate: after that, the Seniors of ’56, may range far and wide, not seeing each other for a great length of time; however, I will wish no such luck on us ! Instead I predict: Janice Moore, studious but seldom serious-minded, will receive her degree in Physical Education and spend a few years teaching her frail rascallions how to play basketball. Her husband will be runner-up in the Mr. America contest. James Edward David, the class jokester, to receive his degree in Chemical Engineering and also to receive his commission as 2nd Lt. in the Air Force. He will be called in for active duty to fly a Sabre Jet, his life ' s ambition. Ann Pittman, who is always full of fun and laughter, keeping house, and looking after the kiddies, while her hubby, Elbert, works at DuPont. Linda Faye Jones, charming and exotic, will receive her degree at Hardbarger ' s in Kinston. She plans to work a while and then settle down to a happy home life with her devoted husband. Rachel Williams, happy go lucky classmate, will receive her degree from Hardbarger ' s in Kinston, then work for DuPont. Tommy Beamon, who loves to travel, to finish his time in the National Guard, and to get his rating as 2nd Lt. Everette Creech, will get his two-year business degree at ECC and join the Navy. He will make the Navy his career, and at the age of 40, retire with pay. Seth Phillips, an Oldsmobile fan, to get his own Oldsmobile company in Kinston. David Lee Gray, a born farmer, to own his own farm, a little Fairlane Ford, and a cheaper by the dozen family.
