HOME ECONOMICS CLUB | GERMAN CLUB DEBATING CLUB Page 94 FRENCH CLUB SPANISH CLUB Page 95 COMMENT AND COMMENDATION, THE NEW CLUB SYSTEM AT HOOD Last year, you remember, we agreed that everyone was doing too many small things at once, and that an un- necessarily large number of small clubs were controlling activities which could be covered by half as many. So after the necessary preliminaries, the campus clubs got together, analyzed, revised, eliminated, combined; and emerged as five general major clubs, replacing the Con- temporary, Forum, Phi Mu Sigma, Music, Sociology- Economics, Mathematics, and Biology Clubs. The lan- guage clubs were made departmental groups, carrying no points. The new system has now completed its trial year; it has ironed out many of the difficulties of the old regime, and solved many of its problems. With the unanimous backing of the school, it may well hope for as smooth sailing in the future. Page 96 Page 97 JANE GRAFE MARJORIE CARNEY Editor-in-Chief Business Manager THE TOUCHSTONE TOUCHSTONE STAFF Page 98 DorotHy J. Morritt, Pu.D. Advisory Editor PERHAPS WE SHOULD EXPLAIN This is the page where we should line up a lot of people’s names with their “positions” opposite. Only in the case of the 1937 ToucHsToNE we wouldn’t know whose name to li ne up opposite what. The 1937 ToucHsTone was produced by collaboration and con- glomeration, by a lot of people getting together in one small office, plastering signs all over the walls to help them to remember things, shouting at each other for several hours at a time, and finally getting a few lines written. This is how the ToucHsToNe was produced, and, really, it’s hard to see just how it happened. But since we are supposed to be giving credit where credit is due, we'll tell you this much. Brickbats and bouquets for personals may be addressed to Grafe (editor-in-chief), Baldwin (associate editor), Gates (literary editor), and McFerran and Austermuhl (who were, incidentally, the personal editors in the first place). Other literary material may be attributed to the same sources. Statistics were gathered by that fine young journalist, Lamade (feature editor). Emilie Miller and Fran Miller (photographic editors) are responsible for the fact that your pictures are in here at all. The little masterpieces of photography are the work of Bell (art editor) and Gates (literary editor, but that’s all right). If the scores aren’t right, blame Land (athletic editor) . The business staff were a little more orderly about doing what they were supposed to do, but even they got a little mixed up. Business Manager Carney, besides worrying about how we were going to pay for the publication, had to worry about the editor. The advertising managers, Schmauch and Dutrow, bothered everybody in town, and so did the circulation managers, Weinss and McKee, who also sent penny postcards. Misspelled names should be referred to Leiter, Lombard, or Bortz (typists) . The 1937 Toucustone. Well, here it is— Page 99 Che Biw and Grev FREDERICK, MARYLAND, FEBRUARY 28, 1930.
