0 I TACKLES J Buchs R Harkness R Por HALFBACKS R Gable W Larson J er Stewart FB R Hoover QB W Porter FB T Kocher ENDS T Lackey J Altenberg J Hayter GUARDS W Auaben H Baulmg S Kever COMMENTS BY COACH KELSEY Th1s was a xery sucessful football season The members of the team learned many lessons that w1ll help them 1n then' future l1ves In the openlng game the boys were very alert and took advantage of Oregons mlstakes to Wm 26 to 7 The next week we let down hellevlng that we were good and lost to a fine Mt MOFTIS team 12 to 6 Then the boys fought hard at Harlem but lost out 7 to 6 due to errors that are characterlstlc of a team that has five sophomores play mg most of the t1me The followlng Frlday we were down at Harvard reachmg an all t1me low for the season The good game that we play ed agamst Harlem had gone sllghtly to our heads The boys then bounced back wxth a 21 to 13 vlctory over a hepped up St Thomas team The followmg week the Indlans lost a close one to Marengo at Marengo 19 to 12 All but two of Hononegah s players were underclassmen and rn thxs game the team came of age From then on they were unbeatable scormg a 34 to 7 vlctory over South Belolt and downxng Polo 31 to 20 They had learned thelr lessons These boys learned that wmmng once does not mean that you are 1nv1nc1ble A reputa t1on w1ll not w1n games-only hard work and a wlnnmg Splflt w1ll The senlors who w1ll be nussed next year are Ronme Harkness Steve Kever Harold Baul1ng B111 Porter and captam B111 Larson Captam Larson was the outstandmg player rn the Conference and one of the best ln northern Illmols thxs season Wlth slxteen maJor lettermen and eleven regulars back next season, the Indxans should have another fine season Coach Kelsey 2 O
