SHIPTEMBER 5 Toda we began our last year at H. C. H. S. Some- thing new: greshmen! They're wandering around everywhere. Trying to comfort them, but also new, is Miss Parker, their class sponsor. 1 5 Fbotball practice--Bill Hopkins and Wilbur Moist were nreally on the beam.n Of course, all the team was working diligently. I5 Now our new little Freshies are officially a class and have as their capable leaders: Pres,--Pat Larson, Vice P.'-Marilyn Newell, Sec.--Howard Harshbarger, Treas.--Barb - ara Flora. 19 What a wonderful beginning for the grid season!! we defeated Mt. Morris by a score of 27-7. Big announcement at the pep session before the game was that Ed Sharp had been chosen Captain of the team. 25 Mr. Donald Scott-Morrison gave us our foretaste of heaven---harp music!! On ancient and modern instruments, he played popular and classical selections. 24 Our sponsor honored!! Mr. Hicks, under the spon- sorship of the General Electric Co., was chosen as one of 50 from 400 applicants to attend a school at Case Institute of Technology, Cleveland, Ohio, for six weeks. One-half his course was devoted to the work of the General Electric Go., the rest of the time to the study of Applied and Industrial Physics. He enjoyed his summer courses. 26 The score was 27-6 in our second grid game of the season at Oregon. Dave Waugh and Burge Pearson wereout- standing, for their blocking. Jack Allen, Manager, wasscram- bling all over looking for shoe laces, with Coach bellowing encouragement, 23
