Une brrght 'Vlonday mornrng rn September 1903 found five lrttle lassres well groomed and dressed lor thcrr hrst day s school Wrth a shy trmrd step they slrpped rnto the first grade and took therr seats awartrng further developments The teacher Mrss May Moss now Mrs Gardner called them one by one lor enrollment and found these lrttle mards to be Theo Petty Leah Norwood Bess Grant Alma Robertson rnd Ruth Jones Thrs was the begrnnrng of the present Senror Llass of 14 the others fallrng by the way srde l'he wccrrly parade to the thrrd floor was the joy of therr school days and they felt therr rmportance rs much so as the older students untrl Mr Bralley our Superrntendent at that trme would take hrs stand on the platform and one glance from hrm would make therr hearts qurver and quake wrth fear Thrs was the happy nucleus around whrch grew srxteen others that have stood the wrntry blasts and the heartless tests ol these many years Lrzzre Bershansky was the srxth vrctrm for the second grade truly an addrtronal star may she shed as much sunshrne throughout her lrfe as she has among her fellow classmates I can not re lrarn from rnentronrng the hrst lrttle lad Jno Norton who was bold enough to take a Seat wrxh these Srx lrttlc mard rn a row l say lrttle but he could by no means be called that for he was a large overgrown gawky boy and worked greatly on the sympathy of hrs teacher who allowed hrm to skrp the second grade and try the thrrd marnly on account of hr herght not hr rntellect but rn later years he has proven hrmself Superrntendent Vlr Bralley resrgned and many a tear was shed when he delrsered hrs farewell talk to the student body Mr P IL VlcDonald succeeded hrm and proved hrmself a frrend to everv student We no longer had to march to the thrrd floor but Instead a magnrfleent audrtorrum had been erected for chapel exercrses and was a great rmprovement to the school as well as to the town Our number had greatly rncreased when we reached that seventh grade That year was famous far and near but the students do not feel that they should carry that blot on therr hrstory throughout therr entrre school career and are ever ready to hrft the blame on to the varrety of teachers that we had There strll remarns a Thorne rn the flesh as we hear the strll clear vorce stealrng over the plarns There was a shy trmrd couple Annre Davrs ard Dan Baker that skrpped mto our class durrng thrs lamous year but rn therr travels over the long rocky path of lrfe wrth us they have become among the boast ol our class and are ever ready to respond to any call rn our behalf Durrng the first part of thrs school term our buperrntendent accepted a charr rn the Denton Normal Our present Superrntendent Mr W L Wrllrs whom we feel very fortunate rn securrng was elected at thrs trme and has remarned wrth us through out our Hrgh School years ln the hrst year of Hrgh School we felt our rmportance to the fullest extent and really we were the most rmportant and the smartest class rn Hrgh School Crn our estrmatron However by the trme Mr Porter had grven us several of hrs free lectures and hard looks all of the egotrsm drsappeared and we became meek as lrttle lambs The leadrng event that took place thrs year of 1910 was the Oratorrcal Contest Our class was well represented rn thrs contest le could be easrly seen that our class was comrng to the front rn such lrnes Our Sophomore year was consrdered the socral year of our career The most memorable event was the moonlrght prcnrc to the old prcnrc ground at Blue Hole We were well chaperoned bv two of our teachers vlrss Kerth and Mrss Jackson who busred themselves rn makrng the evenrng enjoyable for others 31 Q I Q l V 1 l I -N v ' V v V n ' , ' 5 ' , I ..
