The festivities began Friday afternoon with a dynamite pep rally, highlighted by the crowning of a homecoming queen from each class. Representing their respective classes were Car- ole Nohle,' Cindy Gozigian, Beth Russ, and Karen Menz. The activ- ity then moved out to the soccer field where the girl's varsity team tied Livonia CO-OJ and the boy's varsity team defeated Newark Q4- IJ. The enthusiasm felt on the athletic field spread that night when Honeoye Falls rocked to the sound of Tric . Saturday began with the annual parade. The Middle School won the float contest, with the Junior Class taking second place and the Sophomores coming in third. The football game drew a large crowd in spite of the rain and the defeat at the hands of DeSales. - W '- - .. 7 . ..1'r' Q: 2:1 ff if .X . ,..g Q my m f h .,'.,w.r f 4.13 i g 3: . 1 LKQL g Q, isa ... h la agile .5-!Muv3,ixw.N .5518 ms ., l L v i- W N .v -i 1 t i n ' ,M 1 ,' 13 ' ijN5f9i'i-' f -R l t X ,. 5 i if mg: A K K .3 Zi is - sg-Fi 1' f?2iefg,i1.xv -S-. Though their record didn't show a lot of victories their effort and their team spirit was great. With the ex- ception of a very few, the golfers are looking forward to better sea- sons in the future as the team be- comes less and less green . Last year was a trying season for the tennis team. Sturdy, determined pioneers hacked away at the edges of a raw continent and, with blunders and achievements alike, modeled a country with a spirited nature and a united commitment to individual liberty for every one of its citizens. Americans, great and not so great, have given us a heritage to carry on and improve upon. Farmers and soldiers, industri- alists and merchants, dreamers and leaders, are all there in two centuries of progress. But the maturing isn't finished. You'll find the boundaries of growth as endless today as when our forefathers first envisioned them. You can seek out your own destiny with the wisdom and judgement which comes with re-creation of the past. Your knowledge, dreams and industry will carry on through many more centuries of living history. is THE SPIRIT OF A NATIGN I was born American: I live an American: I shall die an American DANIEL WEBSTER uDOIl,t give up tllC Ship.UCAPTJAMESLAWRENOE So you are the little woman who wrote the book that made this great War. H LINCOLN to Harriet Beecher Stowe. Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, . . . EMMA LAZARUS p The people are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty. THOMAS JEFFERSON A truly American sentiment recognises the dignity of labor and the fact that honor lies in honest toil. GROVER CLEVELAND Be sure you are right, then go ahead. DAVID CROCKETT, A knowledge of the past prepares us for the crisis of the present and the challenge of the future. JOHNF. KENNEDY . . . That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom .'T LINCOLN r Historic continuity with the past is not a duty: it is only a necessity. JUSTICE OLIVER WENDELL HOLMES America is a tune. The two year search for newspaper heiress Patty Hearst came to an end. The outcome of the whole situation is yet to be decided, Squeaky Frome was one of the people who made an attempt to assasinate President Ford. Former President Nixon made a return trip to China and was welcomed as graciously as the first time. New York City is facing the problem of possible bankruptcy. New plans and aid are trying to be discovered. During February, television sets tuned in nightly to Innsbruck and the Winter Olympics. The United States made a great showing and brought home ten medals, including three gold ones. 1975 - International Women's Year - A milestone in the histo- ry of women. The proposed Equal Rights Amendment is in the process of being ratified by the states. To highlight 1975, twelve prominent women were chosen by TIME magazine as Women of the Year. You may not remember these things even now, but in' years to come these important, yet somewhat grave events will be a part of our children's history books. Each day is unique and exciting in terms of the news. Songs Just about everybody likes to get down and jive to their favor- ite song or group. Music is an important part of our lives because it is timeless. In a few years the radio might play a song that's popular now. You'd remember that Golden OIdie and it would trigger a whole chain of memories. Often we attach a song with a certain person or time in our life - that's what makes it so special. Here's a few of the hits from the past year. See how many you can remember - The Hustle , Do lt 'Till You're Satisfied , Get Down Tonight , Hot Chocolates - You Sexy Thing , Elton's Island Girl , Con- voy , Love To Love You, Baby , Mandy by Barry Manilow, LaBelle and their Voulez-vous ,... Dynomite , Captain and Tenille's Love Will Keep Us Together , Taking Care of Business , Aerosmith's Sweet Emotions , Sedaka's return with Laughter in the Rain , or maybe even - The Rhinestone Cowboy ??!!. Qashivns This has been a year of changing fads and apparel for both men and women. Men have gone from the everlasting jeans and T-shirts to casual dresswear such as leisure suits or the vested-look, worn with silk shirts. There is more variety in women's clothing this year, too. Skirts are longer, scarves are fashionable, and more jewelry is being worn. Among the most popular accessories were puka shells, mood rings, and big straw bags. Toe socks and earth shoes have even made feet fashionable. WH T'S EW! V . .,,, H izi V .- V I LILL ,LL,1' , AAAl l . as li z,,1- ll Wfavzks Jaws has got to be the most memorable movie of the year. We're all going to be a little wary of jumping into the beautiful blue ocean. lt's a good example of the horror flics Hollywood is produc- ing. lt seems the scarier the better, as far as the box office is concerned . How many of you felt the Sensuround effects of Earthquake ? Alot of people might think twice before partying on the top floor of a huge skyscraper after the flaming Towering Inferno . On the other end of the scale, there are alot of crazy comedy flics too. Mel Brooks' genius shines through in Blazing SaddIes and Young Frankenstein ,and Monty Python comes through with The Holy Grail . A few more recent movies have been Lucky Lady and Blackbird .This revue wouldn't be complete without a few of those tearjerkers and love stories. The Way We Were was a beautiful show about people in love. Of course in the same class is FitzgeraId's, Great Gatsby . The Other Side of the Mountain and One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest are both excellent movies of human suffering. That's the best thing about movies, they take you to places you've never been, give you experiences you could never have, and just let you escape reality for 2 hours of your time, and a mere 53.50.
