The district race started against Northeast of San Antonio. The Owls seemed a mite scared but went out to ring up a 66-Z4 victory. Johnny Faseler, Harold Schweers, and Johnny Graff hit consistently throughout the game. Boerne journeyed to Hondo where they meta 48-39 defeat. Pleasanton came into Hondo with a gleam of victory in their eyes but went home tasting defeat. The game with Floresville, considered to be a walk away for the Tigers, proved to be just the opposite as the fighting Owls Came from behind in the last 3 minutes to win witha score of 45-42. The Owls traveled to East Central where they took the measure of the Yellowjackets 56-32. Two nights later ltoteet met defeat by the Owls 62-25. The Devine Warhorses came to Hondo assured thatthey could stop the attack ofthe Owlsg they met with defeat 53-43. Starting the second round of play the Owls defeated Northeast 50-35 and again trounced Boerne 64-26. This brought the Owls up to one of the most im- portant games of the season. This game being at Pleasanton and after being behind IO points the first quarter went on to win 51-29. The next game the Owls having their mind on the trip to Houston, journeyed to Flores- ville where they met their only defeat of the season. The Owls took the next two games in stride waiting for the all important game with Devine whom they defeated 47-46 after being behind 12 points at the half. This game crowned the Owls District Champs.
