While at Honaker High School, Michelle has exhibited all of the traits of a great player and has set an exam- ple for others to follow with her dedication to excellence. She showed tremendous ability each year and finished her senior year by averaging 11.6 rebounds, 6 as- sists, 6.2 steals and an average of 22 points per game. Possessing tremendous stam- ina, super quick reactions, excel- lent ball handling skills and a great eye for the basket, Michelle will be welcome addition to the college courts next year. We will certainly miss her! The Tigers lost five games by a total of nine points. Humphries (Sr.) led the team in scoring, re- bounding, and steals while Cal Slate (Jr.) led the team in assists. The team averaged 55.9 points per game and allowed 55.4 points per game to the opposition. Return- ees Bryon Helton (Soph.) and Scott Compton (Jr.) also were team stand-outs and should combine with Cal Slate, Randy Sizemore, Chris Miller, Randy Dye, Brad Hart, and several upcoming Junior Varsity players to keep a strong tradition alive next season. The weight lifting program is very benificial to the athlete. Each Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, one can find 20-30 athletes working hard to help strengthen and conditioning their bodies. Weight lifting not only strengthens the athlete, but also helps protect the athlete from injury, Bigger, stronger, and faster is the key to success in athletics. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Hess were honored to have Susan in their home as a second daughter. Susan spent three months in our country and she introduced to our students many customs and traditions of her culture. Her visit was a great learning experience for everyone involved. Susan added lots of happiness and cheer to our school, especially for the senior class. We shall nev- er forget Susan, and we hope that her visit here meant as much to her as it did to us. RELI When asked how it works Mrs. Parker replied, “Wonderfully, it has been a true asset this year.” What Mrs. Parker is referring to is the new Book Trak System that has been installed in the library. The Book Trak System, which is one of the few in the area, consists of a program that enables a librarian to check out and return books and do inventory through the aid of a computer- ized program. An additional asset is that it retains a record of each student’s lost and overdue books throughout his high school years. Overdue notices are printed by the computer on a weekly basis. Mrs. Parker says, “Before this new system, I would lose track of who lost what book and when it was lost. Now I have an accurate record of each student.’”’ Mrs. Parker had visited Pulaski County High School and observed the system there. The computer program itself cost $650.00 and the entire system totaled over $4000.00. Serving as editor has been a challenge. As the deadlines were met, I realized that we were coming closer to our goal. I wish to give special thanks to each member of the staff for all their time and dedica- tion. I would also like to thank Ms. Hammel for all the special effort she has extended to make the 1985 Torch a success. It seems that my year as Torch editor has passed by quickly. I hope the memories within this book reflect back on the time that has so swiftly passed on, never to re- turn. This book is filled with momentos we will never forget. Looking back through the pages, I hope you enjoy the memories compiled within. Jennifer Hess Cp Ht fom CPOoOooOooOovoo oo COCO COO CO OOOO OOOO OCC CO SO SINCE © 1868 IKON OMAN? P.O.
