She is, and always will, be deeply missed by her family and many, many friends. Rusty is a member of the Senior thought of all of Rusty’s friends as her She went camping, to the beach, and gf time with them. Karla had cancer, which was firs was only 10 years old. Her one wis teenager and to enjoy the same thrill are often taken for granted. Karla did live to be a teenager. Mr. H.G. Musick, Jr. has assumed responsibility as principal after eight years at Honaker Elemen- tary School. Many students were already accus- tomed to Mr. Musick as their principal. Those who were under his supervision for the first time soon learned that under his disciplinarian exterior, there was a leader, genuinely concerned about each individual student’s future. Mr. Musick can often be seen conversing with students in the hall, at ball games, and stopping by classrooms to check on projects and activities. Our new principal’s pleasant disposition, fair policies, and one to one relationships with the students and the teachers make him a welcome addition to ES: Mr. Musick and Mr. Steffy discuss school policies. li . ¥ [LAr = a?) — ay, —) a , a s %) oe JO —. The Lady Tigers fully equipped with ability and their 4 D’s (desire, dedication, discipline, and determination) enter into their sea- son. Dotcan Too many students and teachers are not fully aware of the responsibility and work involved in maintaining an athletic program. The Athletic Director is the supervisor fo all coaches and cheerleading sponsors. He is responsible for arranging: each sport’s game schedule, meals for athletes, eligibility requirements, and ticket sales. In addition, he coordinates practice schedules, provides facilities for visiting teams, arranges for transportation, and hires officials. Probably the largest responsibility of the Athletic Director is preparing the annual budget, including transportation needs, uniforms, and equipment. C.W. Dotson, in addition to coaching basketball and teaching, fulfills these responsibilities and more. Mr. Dotson has included the Honaker community in the athletic program, allowing a bigger and better system. From all the athletes and coaches for your time, effort, and professionalism thanks, Mr. Dotson. 107 imelividuadai ec had not been chosen by t printing date. A lot of time and effort has been spent on the ’83-'84 Torch, and we, along with the staff, feel that this is a very successful yearbook. The staff has tried its best to put many wonderful memories in our yearbook, and we hope it holds as many special memories for each one of you as it does for us. We want to thank each member of the staff for helping work out each section; we greatly appreciate you and the time you have spent putting together the pages, and also to the teach- ers for their patience and contributions. We wish next year’s staff the best of luck and hope that their time and effort will be as enjoyable as ours has been this year. We extend a special thanks to Mrs. Hammel for her help and understanding. You stood behind us all the way. We love you!
