FOREWORD To early man the ring was a symbol of his dominion over some problem or obstacle. The high school ring symbolizes our dominion over the first twelve years of the endless circle of learning. After graduation the process of learning will continue as long as we live. Since, however, 1960-61 will mark the end of our being together and the beginning of our separate lives in other fields of learning, we have attempted to preserve through the circle of the class ring some of the endearing moments of our associations together in Honaker High School. We hope that each division of this book will bring you pleasant memories of classmates, teachers, and school activities. May this Torch help you to recapture and relive many moments of difficult but happy school days. The ring of friendship thou art, Binding our hearts together When we are far apart, In foul or fair weather. A symbol of accomplishment, A sign of encircling love. Let us ne’er forget thee On earth or in heaven above.
