CLASS POEM By BETTY BARKER AND MARTHA DENNEY We, sixty-two seniors, class of 756 at Honaker High Leave our places, our teachers, and classmates with a sigh. David, Ted, and Shirley Vance are the class clowns, But Tommy Taylor and Lora Gay never made a sound. Ilene Breedlove has a very large appetite. When she gets as big as Roberta and Jim, she will be a fright. Dorothy Chambers and Alfred Keen are both very tall, While Jerry Ray and Anna Jean can hardly be seen at all. Betty Compton always has a smile, very sweet, But the charms of Harold and Frances can’t be beat. Shirley Breeding likes to go steady. And, of course, Wondell is always willing and ready. Anna Mae Honaker is exceedingly bright, But when she’s with Ann Owens and Billie Sue, she’s not even right. Speaking of brains, there is Raymond Conley, Also Edsel Miller, whom we regard very fondly. Josephine and Lola Marie are married girls. And there is Phyllis with all her pretty curls. Betty Barker has been a bride for a year. And Carolyn will soon be Mrs. Hale, we hear. Dorothy Vance has had her honeymoon, And Martha Denney’s is coming soon. There’s Lorene Romans with her good looks, And Anna Shrader and Peggy Miller with shorthand books. Sally, Bill, Janice and Delano are singing a song, While Sue Fletcher and Freddy don’t know their key is wrong. Ronald Miller anytime can be found, In his pick-up truck Nancy Fletcher bound. Wilma, Gladys, and Dorothy Sharp are pretty blonds, Frances Sample is a redhead of whom we’re very fond, Ralph Strouth, Carl, and Violet keep us in laughs. But Edmond and Ralph Girten never say a word in class. Bobby, Ira, and Harvey are really good pals, And Sue Ball, Gaynelle, and Evelyn are good gals. Billy Keen and John Lee are very slow, And Dorothy Honaker is quite a show. Sonny Wyatt is a handsome young guy, And Peggy Grace isn’t very shy. Our ladies’ men are Kyle Matney and Danny Dye. And now it’s time to say goodbye.
