eing in Spartan athletics brought distinction. By receiving more coverage, both TV and newspaper, athletes basked in the media spotlight. But the added coverage didn't make them try harder-they would have given their best anyway. Who can forget Tracy Foster's opening and closing dunks against Wayne or Iohn Dietrich's 35 yard game-winning field goal in football against Bellmont? Who can forget Iill Beauchamp's breathtaking double somersault beam mounts or Ieff Elmer's fireball pitching? And who can forget Iill Myers' high jumping leaps to block frustrated volleyball opponents?
