T IABCHY Above J One, two, three, and The band begins to play, keeping the beat, reading the music, and watching the conductor. Practice and patience are added to make a productive musical atmosphere. The Homestead Concert, Symphonic, and Jazz Bands were very busy this year, playing music, and performing at concerts. All three bands took part in the annual Pops concert in February and the 25th Annual Spring Band Concert in May. The Jazz Band participated in the CIVIEA Band Festival, receiving three superiors. They are the only band who have won superiors three years in a row. Homestead also planned to release a record with the Homestead Jazz Band on one side, Homestead Wind Ensemble on the other. The Jazz Band hoped to participate again in the Monterey Jazz Festival in April against the top ten jazz bands in California. The ten bands are chosen and invited on the basis of Upper right-Director of all Homestead bands, Rory Snyder takes time out to pose. Concert Band talphabeticall:Jason Asuscion, Nancy Beatty, Kim Guzeman, Scott Healy, Mickey Helms, Stacey Huggins, Tomi Huljev, Greg Kastigar, Andy Kieran, Dierdre Leiner, Jim Lubinsky, Jett Nlacias, Chris lvtcCaw, Diana McGhee, Jerome Miller, Ben Ogle, Philip Wolf, Yolando Ybarra. Livining lunch, the Homestead Jazz Band plays in the quad for noontime entertainment. 192-Clubs and Organizations how they sound of a tape sent to the organizers of the festival. Homestead outdistanced all other schools in the number of students chosen to be part of state and county honor bands. Two seniors and juniors were chosen for the All-state Honor Jazz Band and four more students were chosen for All-State Honor Band Another tvventy-two students were selected for County Honor Band, four of which were section leaders in the Homestead bands. All in all, Homestead's bands really were a beat above as they dedicated themselves to hard work by practicing, and it really showed.
