xg' s W It all started in August when Homestead's spirit squads attended cheerleading camp at U.C. Santa Cruz. At camp, they were filmed for a European movie on American cheerleaders. An example of a cheerleader can be found right here at Home- stead. Although they take a lot of slack from fellow classmates, they do have a good time and make many new friends. Time and effort is put into everything they do. They have a special P.E. devoted to practicing cheers and preparing for rallies. It is also an ex- pensive activity with costly uniforms and camp to worry about. However, fundraisers are pro- vided to help compensate expenses. With the help of thier advisor, Susie Goodman, Homestead spirit has really gotten it together this year. Anyone can be a cheerleader as long as they have lots of spirit and, of course, that green pride. Senior Cindy Chamberlain shows her spirit.
