Paul Klinkhamer-The Netherlands When I came over to the U.S.A., I had a lot of ideas and expectations about what life here was going to be like. Since then I have learned a great deal. I found many things about this country, and very many things of those are good things. I personally have enjoyed my stay here very much. I have made more friends among students and teachers here in one year than in five years in The Nether- lands. Homestead therefore has played an imp0rtant'part in my stay here and I donit regret that at.,all. I would like to thank everybody I knew here for a won- derful experience. The 4'Wild Westw might not be that wild anymore, but it is still a very nice place! Foreign Exchang Students Ola Svensson-Sweden: Living in Sunnyvale and attending Homestead High School has been a great experience for me. The first thing I noticed when I came, was that everything is so large, the roads and cars and even the school. Com- ing to a school that is three times larger than my old school was quite a change. But I realized many good things, the right for the students to choose their own classes and teach- ers, the friendship between the teachers and the students, plus all the after-school activities that help to make a regular school day more fun. Everybody has been very nice and helpful. When I go back I know that I will miss you and all the flavors of ice-cream you have. See you in Sweden! Dominique Friscourt-France . The U.S, is for me a very attractive country and I enjoy this new way of life very much. I like it here mostly because of its people who are much more friendly and open than in Kurt Keller+Switzerland It was a great experience to be an exchange student here at Home- stead. Homestead is five times bigger than the school I was in, in Switzerland. There is a huge num- ber of different subjects you can take here. Sports activities at school was new for me. If you want to go out for any sport in Switzerland, you have to go to a local club. I was amazed when I first came here by those freeways and cars. There is no end to them. People here live with much more comfort. Two cars and a color T.V. seem to be nothing special. In my family we didn't have a car until last year and we have no T.V. But I don't think the people are happier with all their comfort. I hate the smog the cars produce. The climate here is fantastic. I will miss the sunny summers when I go back home. 183 Paris. I don't know actually if I like the unceasing rush in every- thing, and what I hate, is the pushed commercialism. Homestead High School has pretty nice buildings. It does not look like the kind of very closed and prison- like high school I was used to in Paris. The teachers seem to me very friendly. As for the students, they are certainly great if you get the chance to know them. 4 1 I
