Patty Yamane Terry Miller .ludy Dickson Lea Reynolds TONY Masfefson Amy Falkowitz Rilda Brostrom Florence Send 'six-if S CLUB Service and friendship highlighted the l967- i968 year for the 40 members of S Club. Chosen on the basis of enthusiasm, leader- ship, and scholarship, the number of girls in the clublis propor- tionate to the number of girls in each class, senior, junior, and sophomore. Taking an active interest in school and community, the S Club participated in the Food Booth at the Round-Llp, sold Mums at the Homecoming Football Game, helped the Soroptimist Club in their fund raising rummage sale, and worked a fund raising event, a Halloween Haunted House. During Christmas, S Club collected toys for Mexican-American children, and made food tray favors for hospital patients. Directing all this energy was the job of president Florence Seid, vice-president Maureen Gilbert, secretaries Carol Freed and Linda Bagnall, and treasurer Laura Fraser. it I1 57

This year, mem- bers conducted proiects at the school, community, and international levels. The fourth Annual Benefit Hootenanny was staged September 22 by Interact. Groups from Foothill, San .lose State. and Homestead's own Mr. Lew White entertained at the hand-clapping event. Interact also staged the first known tricycle race on Homestead's campus. Seventeen clubs competed for first prize, with all proceeds going to the March of Dimes. The Yule season found Interact members assisting the El Camino Hospital Auxiliary at their Candle Show, and aiding the Althenians in the decoration and supervision of a Christmas Party. The cIub's influence was felt around the globe. Interact members financially adopted a young Korean girl. Yun Ok, through the Save the Children Foundation. Interact also contributed to the founda- tion of a school through CARE in the Philippines. Responsible for the outstanding Interact year were president John Bean, vice-president Tom Comer, secretary Howard Cunningham, and Mark Sayer. treasurer and Sergeant-at-Arms. lnteract's Korean Sweetheart f' John Bean Nice shot!

Gymnastics Any girl who wished to develop skill on the balance beam, trampoline, uneven parallel bars, or tumbling could participate in the Gymnastics Club. Miss Reist, the advisor, offered personal instruction as well as supervi- sion of individual practice. Math Club rl ' , f V C, 1 Electronics Club Anyone with an interest in electronics was welcomed to the Electronics Club, under the direction of advisor, Mr. McCollom. The groups paramount project this year was the formation and mainte- nance of a radio station. Field trips to Raytheon, IBM and a computer theory class, organized by club president Steve Wozniak, made this year exceptionally stimulating. Through participation in such contests as the San Jose Mathematics Field Day, the Math Club encouraged those with an interest in higher mathematics to learn about and experiment with different kinds of numbers. President Vincent Tobkin and advisor Mr. Stocking initiated the formation of a highly interesting computer programming class. The club also organized the Second Annual Homestead High School Math Contest.
