A NATlONAl. HONOD, OClETY LS 'U' The National Honor Society requires that members maintain a B average in their courses at Homestead. Approximately W juniors are initiated to this club each year after an objective examination of their schol- arship requirements. Because NHS is an honor organization, each member's qualifications in citizenship and leadership are also reviewed by a faculty board. This year we have raised enough money to offer a S W scholarship to one to four club members, stated Co- President Mike Jordan. Neil Bethel combined efforts with Mike, and both led the club in its fund raising activities, which included organ- izing a booth at the Roundup. Mr. Hanna, club advisor, supervised the planning of a trip within the bay area to an educational point of interest. Members were also able to work at the Roundup. According to second semester president, Vince Tobkin, the purpose of the club is to increase interest in high standards of scholarship and to provide activities for students achieving these standards. Vince was elected to succeed first semester pres- ident Dale Ahearn. Satisfactory citizenship and an above B grade point average are requirements for membership to the club.
